Found use for an old laptop, GX60, that I had tucked away. Everything was running perfectly no issues, but was running on windows 8. I updated to windows 10 with a fresh start and had to redownload new drivers for windows 10.
I am aware that this GPU (7970m) is labeled as legacy. Downloaded the most up to date driver off its driver page off the site. Upon download and installation, windows detects the card and labels it "Device is working properly" under the device manager with the correct driver being displayed. All apps and programs including AMD software work. Upon restarting my computer (even while offline) the device is suddenly labeled "Windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems (code 43)" under the device manager section and all apps and AMD software stop working and label my drivers out of date/corrupt.
I've tried older drivers, but these produce the same results.
TL;DR install fresh drivers, it works. Upon computer reset, drivers stop working (online or offline). Tried older drivers and reinstalling current drivers.
