I had StoreMI (2) working fine on my ASRock B550MPro4 Motherboard (R7 3700X CPU).. For a variety of reasons I switched to an MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge Wifi Board.
With the MSI board (which should be supported) the StoreMI Installer, runs thorough the process, and halfway through, it decides the install has failed and that it needs to rollback. This is 100% reproducible. I have the same drives, cpu, ram, OS.. everything only the Motherboard has changed.
StoreMI appears to have a 3 stage installer.. First the downloaded exe is a NSIS Installer, which extracts fine, runs some scripts and then fires off the main GUI MSI based installer. Its the GUI installer that seems to freak out halfway through and rollback the install. At the point it decides to rollback I think the MSI has actually installed properly (the MSI log says: "MSI (s) (60:A8) [17:13:12:014]: Product: AMD StoreMI -- Installation operation completed successfully." however the product rolls back and removes everything. The installer gives no reason other than "Installation Failed".
I've attached the MSI log, as well as the StoreMI installer logs.. and looking through them the only thing that seems weird is the MSI Property AHCIRAID is set to true (StoreMI Doesnt support RAID - And I DONT have RAID turned on)
The log indicates this is because of:
03/12/2020 13:01:41 :: Device ID: PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_43EB&SUBSYS_10621B21&REV_00\4&5F22ECF&0&010A
03/12/2020 13:01:41 :: Checking whether AHCI RAID Driver Device ID is present on system.
03/12/2020 13:01:41 :: Standard SATA AHCI Controller Found with device id PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_43EB.Hence setting property AHCIRAID
However that seems weird as that VID/PID belongs to the B550 SATA AHCI Controller.. Nothing to do with RAID.
Does anyone have any advice or any idea why the install fails?
AMD Technical support appear to be unable to troubleshoot the problem though I am still in contact with them and they are escalating.
Anyone have it working on a MSI B550 board?
