Issues: At Idle I draw 90w. My VRAM speed is constantly being maxed out by my display refresh rate. If I change my displays refresh rate to 60hz, it goes down significantly. In a game called New World, I am experiencing these white screen flashes. They happen seemingly randomly and are only present for a millisecond. I've had this card for two and a half months now, it has always had this idle power consumption but the white screen flicker issue is new.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. I have reported this issue directly to AMD.

revert to older drivers, like 23.9.1
Since 23.9.2, the drivers are broken, you have to wait for the new version or take the preview

For consumption, my 7900xtx is also at 100w in idle with my two 180hz screens, it's sad but AMD doesn't seem to want to correct that

This white screen flicker is the only issue I have experienced on these drivers. Is this really that big of an issue that I need to rollback drivers? I am very happy with the performance of these drivers, and I am not totally sure if it's the drivers causing this because I haven't played New World on previous drivers. It doesn't happen in Battlefield 2042 or Cyberpunk 2077. Thank you for the help btw.

idle power issue has been there since launch, no fix yet from AMD .At this point I'd say they will never fix it ,but hope never dies I guess.

When I don't have FreeSync/VRR enabled on my 240hz display, my RX 6800 XT maxes out the VRAM clock as well. @Matt_AMD mentioned years ago that the VRAM clock was maxed to enable a smooth experience at high refresh rates. I do not have a 7000 series GPU just yet to troubleshoot, but it would be my guess that this is also the case for your GPU. You may also see lower power draw if you enable VRR. 

As for the flicker in New World, I have not experienced this. This could be partly because I only played the game for a couple dozen hours after it launched and moved on to other games rather quickly after my friends stopped playing. 

If you feel you want to try other drivers, many have stated the high idle power draw is fixed on the drivers released prior to 23.9.3. 

Prior to uninstalling old drivers I suggest using the following methods to stop Microsoft from installing the broken drivers they install using Windows Update.

The best way to ensure you are not leaving traces of the old drivers behind, is to use the AMD Cleanup Utility, or DDU to remove all old driver files on your computer. DDU also has a toggle box you can check for good measure that stops Windows Update from installing its broken drivers after you reboot the system when the uninstall process is finished. Following this, I typically restart twice, and move on to installing the last known working drivers. 

If all of this fails to fix the issue, post a reply and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself on the RX 7000 series will have more insight on how to fix the issues you are facing.
