Ryzen 5 5600G no signal after changing hz or resolution

I’m experiencing an unusual issue with my PC. It was off the night before, but when I turned it on the next day, the screen displayed “no signal” as soon as Windows booted up. However, everything works fine in the BIOS and Safe Mode.

To troubleshoot, I’ve tried the following steps:

  1. Swapping the memory slots.
  2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers.
  3. Changing the HDMI cable twice.

The second HDMI cable is confirmed to be working, as it functions properly on both my monitor and another PC. However, on my PC, it only works at 1920x1080 resolution. If I attempt to change the resolution, the monitor loses the signal. When I revert to 1920x1080, it works fine again. Additionally, when I change the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz, the screen sometimes flickers and briefly shows the display, but when set to 144Hz, the screen completely loses signal. Also, occasionally when I change the refresh rate, I get a noisy screen similar to that of old TVs, filled with dots and interference.

Here are my specs:

  • MSI B450M VDH Pro Max motherboard
  • Ryzen 5 5600G processor
  • 2x8GB Patriot Viper 3200MHz RAM

Try swapping your monitor with another one that supports the resolution you're attempting to set.
