RX 6650XT 2nd screen not detected

Hey everyone,

as the subject states, since I switched from my old GTX 1060 to the newer RX 6650XT, my second monitor just won't start working.

For my old graphics card, it was enough to just connect my first screen (a BenQ GL2450HM that still works perfectly with the newer card) via HDMI and my 2nd screen (a Medion MP 30699 PU that is horribly old, but still worked fine to this day on the GTX 1060) via DVI.

As the RX 6650XT doesn't have a DVI-Port anymore, I tried several adaptors (from DVI to Displayport, from DVI to HDMI, from DVI to HDMI to Displayport), but now matter what I try, Windows won't recognize my 2nd screen.

The funny thing is that while the PC is booting up, the 2nd screen gets detected (I'm even able to access the BIOS on the 2nd screen), but as soon as the Windows-Startup-Screen is loaded (the one where you have to insert your password), it blacks out and I'm only able to operate when I connect my 1st screen. This is why I suspect that it has to be a software problem.

Thus far, I tried changing the resolution (the 2nd screen has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024) and resetting the Shader-Cache via the AMD Adrenaline Software, but to no avail.

If it is needed, here are the specs of my system:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-AB-350-Gaming
  • Graphics: ASUS Dual RX6650XT OC
  • RAM: 16GB

I hope someone will be able to help. Thanks in advance!

Use AMD cleanup utility or DDU (Display Driver uninstaller) and then reinstall the Adrenaline software from AMD's website. This to me sounds 100% like a bad driver install. Could be wrong, however.
