I got my pc on sat 23/09/2023.
To start this with, I did have use the same USB stick to install Windows 10 that I used for my old pc and I logged in with the same microsoft account. Not sure if that's relevant.
Anyway,
ASUS ProArt X570 Creator WIFI (BIOS 0801 x64, build date 4/26/2022, AGESA ComboV2PI_1207)
5950x
RX6700XT
bequiet! Dark Rock Pro 4
bequiet! Pure Power 12M 850W
4000D Corsair Airflow Case
5 Scythe Slim Flex 1800 RPM + 1 fan that came with the case
Corsair Vengeance RGB RT DDR4 DRAM 3600Mhz 2x16GB CL16 [CMN32GX4M2Z600C16]
Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD (I'm aware of the degrading issues so I checked and I'm on 5B2QGXA7)
I picked the parts but had it assembled at a shop. So upon geting home I startd it up and only had to finish W10 instalation which I did. I used my hotmail acc to log in and tadaa, W10 desktop. Fck edge I'm downloading Firefox. I DL FF and press install, and 15% in the install loader bar my PC immediately black screens and reboots.
Fck! Is it overheating? Is that DRP4 not enough?
immediately I DL CoreTemp and inst- blackscreen and reboot.
I try again and this time it goes through and I start the program and tick on "always display on top" to keep a close eye on temp, v, wtts and Mhz.
Long story short the hottest I've seen it is 77°C in Vintage Story pulling 70-100W.
I do see the Mhz going to 2800 to 3300 something or so and up to 5050Mhz boosting while base it is 3600Mhz.
So it just keeps on blackscreen-rebooting randomly when installing, downloading, unzipping. Eventually I go into the BIOS and disable PBO.
I start up Vintage Story and the pc crashes two times so I go back and set PBO to AUTO again. Still the game crashes. Eventually I find Core Performance Boost in the BIOS and disable that with PBO and reboot my pc. I check CoreTemp and y temp doesn't go higher than 38°C and usually just says at around 32-33. Mhz stays locked at 3400Mhz. And no more crashing since then which was two days ago. I eventually AUTO'd PBO and but kept CPB Disabled and still, no crashes. Maybe it has yet to crash so we'll see. But now I can't use this CPU to it's full 100% out if the box capacity? Is this a defect? Also, when trying to see if it would crash in boost I went on YT front page and just scrolled really aggressively making it boost and go to 70°C. No crashes but it dif make a strange sound in my speaker: it went BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP. I tried to trigger this again later and it did this again but only one bloop this time. When installing a program, the program wanted me to scroll dwn all the way to accept its terms so I scrolled down quickly nd it again made one BLOOP sound. Never had this happen in my life. What is that sound?
Ok, moving on. USB shinanigans.
Mouse and keyboard 0 problems (old G15 and G502 with the iron scroller)
I plug in my old extern drive Elements WD 500GB. No sound indicating connection and it doesn't show up in My PC YET it would show in 'remove device safely'.
Take new USB stick and it detects it immediately. Try again with Elements a day or two later and it also detects it! Yay! Close it and try to remove it in 'safely remove device' Get an eror that its still in use while it clearly isn't. Shut down pc and remove it that way.
Now, I try to set up my HP 3830 printer with a USB. Install HP drivers etc and reate a TXT file with [sgswgwgrss] gibberish in it to test and print. Right click txt file and print. it gets stuck in the queue. Delete it and try again. Same result. Go to print spooler nd stop print spooler and try again. Now it asks if I want to install printer click YES, it tries o find the pinter and it doesn't find it - so I try again to which now it does find it. Click connect, it says type in WPS pin (it's USB connected tho???) - go to printer 8 digits nd punch them in. My pc tries to connect and it times out everytime, my printer says it got tired of waiting. Keep trying, sometimes the HP shozws up and sometimes it doesn't. So I think maybe boosy will help so the printer doesn't need to wait so long? so I got into BIOS and AUTO CPB again. So fa, I haven't even had it detcted the printer. I eventually Disabled CPB again and kept trying that way - no luck to print he gibberish txt file.
Then, I notice 'saffely remove device' option flickering in and out on my task bar... That happened once so far tho. Never ever had that happen to me in 23 years of using computers.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading.
I will take it back to the shop this saturday to se if they can do something but in the meantime I'm trying to look for solutions and answers.
This all is vey strange, the rebooting with CPB on but not with it off seems to suggest a faulty CPU? (it hasn't happened with CPB off YET but who knows it just might in the future so keep that in mind)
The USB stuff seems MOBO related.
OR could the USB stuff have to with my Windows 10 not yet being activated? Or having used the same USB that Windows sent me to install the new PC and using the same hotmail acc to log in? I haven't yet activated it on the new system because my old system has been ROCK SOLID for 8 full years now, so I don't want to decommision it yet. For some reason s well, when I start up my PC and it goes to the log in screen, first it will show everything in English and then revert to Dutch 0.5 seconds later. It will also revert to English when rebooting after installing W10 updates I just noticed.
What's going on here?
