Radeon 460 won't install with official driver

I tried the automatic tool

I tried to install the recommended version

I tried to install the latest version

Everything turned into trouble - with the windows basic display driver the GPU is more or less working.

How could the basic windows driver perform better than the official radeon driver and what the heck can I do useful with the generated troubleshoot file other than paste it in here ? (oops that's not even possible)

no way to get hold of older drivers... here either.

I love it when companies make money by having customers resolve their problems mutually...

(useless to say that the card was working in my old machine)
