Does nothing to help Kingdom Hearts....
Not surprised now.
I may have jumped the gun, will need to test properly.
Nope, still crashes just as often as before.
Not Crashing for me
Tested in alan wake 2, AFMF 2 is really smooth.
Problem is this driver introduces black screen in mpc-hd and madvr for about 20 seconds before video is played out. Anyone else having this issue?
Hi,
may I ask whether or not the issue with MPC and madVR was ever solved for you? I'm asking because I'm currently experiencing the same thing with the latest stable 24.9.1 drivers.
When rolling back to 24.8.1, everything is fine.
Hopefully you'll see this, otherwise I'll just open a new topic soon.
Cheers!
I solved the problem by disabling dx11 error diffusion under dithering option in madvr settings.
I now use ordered dithering. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the fast reply.
Sorry, I should have made this clearer before, but my issue actually differs from yours (I replied to your post because it was the only recent one that mentions MPC and madVR that I could find).
I should have also mentioned that so far I've been using MPC-BE instead of MPC-HC (I assume that's what people in this topic mean when saying MPC-HD?).
Playing a video actually works fine, but whenever I switch to another video from within MPC, the player either crashes or freezes, depending on whether I'm using MPC Video Renderer or madVR. The latter also freezes the player whenever I try to close it.
And my dithering option was already set to ordered.
Anyway, to cut it short:
With MPC-HC, everything is working fine, including madVR.
With MPC-BE, the MPC Video Renderer only works normally when switching the hardware decoder to "DXVA2" instead of "D3D11, DXVA2". But madVR still doesn't work normally, even when disabling Direct3D 11 in the settings, and even though it has the exact same settings as for MPC-HC.
From my limited understanding, the issue seems to be somehow related to the Direct3D 11 decoder.
So for now I'll be using MPC-HC (until recently I wasn't aware that MPC-HC was being updated again).
Thanks again and sorry for the wall of text.
Update: MPC-BE is also working again, but I don't know what fixed it.
Just tried some things with the video decoder configuration in MPC (Internal Filters -> Video Decoders).
I am glad you fixed it!
Thank you for posting this, this driver fixed the issues i was having with 24.6.1 and 24.7.1, works perfectly.
For the issue of MPC-HD Madvr, i tried a mkv file i have and i don't have the issue of a black screen, my GPU is a 7900xt
I am using an rx6900xt, so maybe it is a RDNA2 issue (regarding the black screen).
Tried this driver as well and I have to say, impressive. The bugs I had before are gone.
Oh and I don't have a blackscreen in mpc-hd and I'm on a 6700xt and a 6800xt on another pc.
Then something on my end isn't right. Very good driver though, i hope afmf 2 is implemented on 24.8.1 but that would be rather soon i guess.
Are you using d3d11 in LAV video filter by the way?
I noticed that when I move the mouse very fast all over the mousepad the generator shuts down. They still haven't fixed it.
Yup, using d3d11 in lav video filter. Just checked
But I'm using Win11 24h2. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but you never know.
I have a RX 6700XT. Should I go for this? Or should I just wait for 24.8.1? The lastest drivers (24.6.1 and 24.7.1) have been terrible for me. I can't play my favorite game Temtem with any of them. It runs terrible. I had to roll back to 24.5.1 to play it normally. And this never happened to me before.
Well, that is really up to you, but so far it worked pretty good on my end. So, I can only suggest that if you do give it a try use the amd cleanup utility before installing the driver(and turn driver auto update off or disconnect your internet when you install it)
I was really hyped about it finally supporting windowed mode, which is essential as i'm running triple monitors, but it still doesn't work with either iracing or assetto corsa.
Same here. Unfortunately no eyefinity support, for the moment I Hope.
This is the best situation to use afmf : multi monitor with big résolution.
Please AMD make afmf 2 worked with eyefinity.
Here on 6700xt with triple fullHD setup, really want afmf with eyefinity.
AMD, can you please ask, do we have any chances to see Eyefinity and AFMF working together or it's impossible for some technical reasons?
I really want to know if there's technical reason too. Hope not. I love my AMD build so far and want my futur upgrade to be AMD, don't like NVIDIA pricing and closed features, and don't want Intel heat free processors
the beta driver now disables 8K on youtube so I can no longer watch 8k youtube videos
also it is impossible to watch in full screen in any resolution on youtube. even 144p. screen stutter happens.
however i like the afmf2 it really helps on my rx7600
since I can't watch youtube full screen, I'm reverting back to the original version.
Ok, that is weird. I have no problems watching yt vids at 8k nor at fullscreen. No stutters
it was my fault, the moment i couldn't play 8k because i was on display port which only supports up to 4k i'm good now lol
Just a quick notice, this driver has outdated drivers for "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and "AMD Streaming Audio Device" in device manager. Had to manually update them to 2024 versions.
Not working on Multi-monitor configurations for me. Tried all ways to ativate AFMF2. but no luck
FC 24 is the same as on 24.6.1 for me on the AFMF 2 drivers.
So if you play FC 24 don't bother, 24.7.1 is stable for it
I guess the AFMF 2 preview driver was based on the 24.6.1 drivers
AMD seems to still have crippled the software and drivers for eGPU use. AFMF and any of the fancy features are just hidden when I use it with my Razor Core X with a RX6600 via Thunderbolt.
Anyone got it to work in such a setup?
For anyone that is interested, AFMF 2 preview driver has been updated to 6th September release.
And it's a solid driver.
