I've been having my drivers malfunction for a very long time now. It happens whenever I'm idling or not running any 3D program. I have to disable the driver every time I'm idling. The screen freezes (cursor stops moving), and then it black screens after 25 seconds. Sometimes the PC automatically reboots because of the same problem.
I'm running a Plex server, so I can watch my content. What if it gets interrupted because of the graphics drivers.
My CPU, RAM, and GPU is not overclocked. It's been happening ever since I upgraded my PC from AMD FX-6300 to a Ryzen 5.
I have to keep my GPU temperature above 43C to prevent my GPU from crashing. I tried every driver version, and the problem still persists.
It’s possible that Windows isn’t automatically switching to the generic graphics driver when you disable the AMD driver. since your current processor doesn’t have integrated graphics, try swapping it with one that does (if you have one available). Then, connect your display to the integrated display port and check if the system still shuts down. This will help determine whether the issue is related to the GPU or another aspect of the system configuration. Also, could you let me know which version of the AMD driver you're currently using? That information might help identify potential driver-related issues.
It does switch to the generic graphics driver upon disabling it. I'm not getting any black screens or reboots whenever the driver is off. The only other graphics card I have is an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT (512MB), but I'm using it on my Windows XP gaming computer. I'll test it out.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H.
I actually have a GeForce 9600 GT GPU. I inserted the GPU into my newer computer, but it refused to install the drivers. The latest version of the driver only supports Windows 10 or below.
