Many bugs for integrated graphics of AMD Ryzen 9 7900x

Good morning everyone,
I haven't installed a dedicated graphics card on my desktop PC yet (I'm waiting for that) so I'm trying to test this processor, but I'm having a lot of problems playing with my system

Main Features

Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus Wifi
Ryzen 9 7900X
Corsair DDR5 6000
Samsung 990 Pro
Last version of AMD Adrenaline Edition
Last version of ASUS BIOS (3034)
Windows 11 Pro 24H2
Monitor ASUS VG28UQL1A 144 hz

There are some games that I have no problems with, and the graphics are very good (for example I tested with Need for speed undercover and The Run), but for some games, for example this simple mod of the old half life gives me timeout problems and freezes: the game starts, I create the map, I play a bit, then at a certain point it freezes and remains frozen and AMD gives me an error of timeout
https://www.mediafire.com/download/4fv3mtxsv9mdpfg/NGHL_Lite_v1_34.exe

For this half life mod I get message "AMD software has detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system. We have generated a problem report.."

Or GTA Vice City installed from Steam gives me crashes, the game starts, works for a while but then continues to give me problems
But I have the same problems with others.
Some games I can't even install and this is related to either the AMD chipset or the integrated graphics.

These problems are not related to the games, but, in my opinion, to the AMD drivers
So I changed and tried under Windows 10 but it gives the same problem
For example, even under some modded versions of Windows 11, it even fails to install the drivers because it says it is incompatible with Windows..
With a game I happened to have to disable virtualization, so I did and the game started

But.. why so many problems? With an old laptop of mine I did not experience all these errors.

The integrated graphics built into the I/O die of 7000 series desktop processors contains only 2 cores and 128 shaders. It is meant to be a basic or backup display option, not used for gaming.

The AMD Radeon Graphics of the Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs is an integrated graphics card (iGPU) based on the RDNA 2 architecture. It offers only 2 CUs (128 shader) and is similar to the Radeon 610M. The clock speed in most CPUs ranges between 400 to 2200 MHz. Due to the low amount of shaders, the gaming performance is very low and only suited for low demanding games.

Ok, thanks for answer.

Just a question. I have mobo asus tuf gaming B650 plus wifi. Is a bad idea if my purpose is rendering and gaming to buy an amd ryzen 7 8700g with a good dedicated vga (for example 4700 super or 7800 xt) ?

I read that pairing an APU with a VGA can lead to drastic drops in performance but I didn't understand why.

This question arises from the fact that I would like to purchase the VGA in 3 months but I would therefore already like to be able to do something basic graphically that is a better than the 7900x for discrete gaming

The IGP of the 8700G would perform better than that of the 7900X, having 12 cores (instead of 2) and 768 shaders (rather than 128).

However all IGPs use system memory with its inherent bandwidth limitations, and even an entry level discrete card like the RX 7600 (32 core, 2048 shaders) is a significant performance improvement over integrated graphics. But it all depends on your expectations.

There's no reason an APU like the 8700G can't be paired with a discrete card, however be aware that the 8700G does not support PCIe 5.0 - this is a non-issue if you're using a B650 rather than a B650E as the B650 doesn't support PCIe 5.0 regardless. Also the 8700G has half the L3 cache (16MB) of an equivalent X model like the 7700X (32MB) and the X3D chips have proven when it comes to gaming cache is king.
