IGPU support in Linux

I have a laptop with a Ryzen 3500U running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. It has the Radeon IGPU. I noticed all the FFMPEG and encoding would be using the CPU instead of GPU. WHere as in Windows 11 the GPU is used. I tried installing AMDGPU driver in linux and rebooted. The support for my external monitor dissapeared and would not connect . The system would get laggy etc.

When will AMD provide a proper driver for Linux for the IGPU users.

Looking at AMD Download page for the Ryzen 5 3500U Mobile APU processor there are no Linux downloads. Which seems to indicate that AMD doesn't have any compatible laptop Linux driver for your processor: https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-5-mobile-processors-radeon-vega-gr...

But AMD does show that Linux is a compatible OS for your processor: https://www.amd.com/en/product/8341

I would open a thread at Phoronix Linux Forums website which is one of the better linux website and see if anyone can help you there: https://www.phoronix.com/forums/

EDIT: Found this previous Mint Linux thread about 3500U Drivers (01.2021). Might be of help in your case: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=339336
