I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with some issues I've been having for several months. I have AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT graphics and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor. I can provide more info if needed.
All games run perfectly using the 23.12.1 AMD software version, at 60+ fps. But using any later version, games become instantly unplayable and max out at 8-12 fps. This is across every game I've compared against - Minecraft, Rimworld, and Project Zomboid - and I suspect would apply to others also.
Lately, my monitor has also been losing hdmi connection at random and I've had to turn my pc off and on again to regain connection, which messes up the drivers somehow such that I have to reinstall them. If I don't, I've also noticed that CPU usage will spike from 3-10% up to 100%, and CPU temperature from 35-45 degrees C up to 60-70 until I reinstall the drivers.
I'm hoping that this is a driver issue and not a hardware problem... for the monitor issue I've ruled out any issue with the hdmi cable but am otherwise unsure. I've been told previously that this could all be down to some problems AMD has with OpenGL, but is that actually true? Could it be related to an outdated BIOS version?
This is my first PC build, so any advice is appreciated
