As the title states, I have been experiencing quite a few issues with my new RX 6700 XT GPU. I've had the card installed for about two weeks now, and multiple times experienced a issue where my drivers would crash, causing my screens to go black. Only after restarting could I get the Windows Standard drivers to start, and with DDU and a fresh install I was able to get the AMD drivers actually running again.
This so far has occured twice in the time I've had the card installed, and it is quite frustrating. Additionally, though I have only noticed it so far in one game (Sea of Thieves), I periodically get progressively worse Graphical Artifacts. They stop when I force quit the game, but do make me concerned about serious issues.
It is getting rather frustrating by this point, and makes me not only consider sending the card back to see if there are hardware issues but possibly see if a refund can be arranged to instead go back to a Nvidia card. Hoping someone here might know about these issues and have a solution for them
To resolve issues with your RX 6700 XT GPU, including driver crashes and graphical artifacts you can try troubleshooting by following these steps:
Thanks for the response! I've tried those steps all in full, the 2nd step even a few times when the drivers crashed again, unfortunately with no luck. Temperatures also seemed to stay within normal ranges. For now I have decided to RMA the card, as many things seem to point to a hardware issue
Were you able to resolve your issue? I am having the same issue with a RX 6700. Was mid-game and the game crashed. I rebooted and games won't run. I get a driver timeout error now and artifacts on the screen, black screens and system freezes when it happens. I have tried a different video card, new PSU and drivers. Tried an old driver too and that didn't help. I have used the AMD cleanup utility and DDU each time in safe mode.
I have ran Prime95 and Memtest86 and my CPU and RAM all passed without errors. I'm not sure what to try next. Perhaps the Northbridge on my motherboard is dying.
People often think that nobody didn't try to reinstall drivers, restart PC...which are basic steps in troubleshooting.
For me, I just install drivers from AMD Adrenaline (whatever version).
Only "tweak" I ever did in ADRENALINE is to set coolers to cool GPU to 35-40c in idle instead of "no coolers and GPU goes to 50-55c" and ADRENALINE crashed always.
Just install drivers without Adrenaline.
I didn't have crashes few months...
