Driver timeout issues with RX 7900 XT during low activity and sleep wake

Hi !
i've build my pc and i run benchmarks like Cinebench, 3DMark (score: 5520) all without any problems. CPU never goes up to more than 75° AND RAM is working great.

CONFIG :
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7600
GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XT
Monitor: Dell S2722DGM 27" QHD (165Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium)
RAM: T-Force DDR5 16GB x 2 (RGB)
Cooler: Arctic Freezer 36 ARGB
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GT gold
Case : Montech King 95 Pro
OS: Windows 11 Pro (24h2)

BUT i’ve been experiencing driver timeout problems with my PowerColor RX 7900 XT, but only under specific conditions. Gaming works flawlessly even during long sessions of 4-5 hours. by the way i'm using the dual 8-pin GPU connection to my PSU two vga1 and vga2 and not 1 8-pin gpu connection with two connectors in case there is power delivery probleme, its what was recommanded.

The issues arise during low activity, like streaming or browsing. Sometimes, my system runs fine for 2-3 hours before freezing or blacking out. On rare occasions, waking from sleep results in a black screen, forcing a hard reboot, after which Windows reports a GPU driver crash.

I’ve run  I even adjusted my monitor settings, lowering the refresh rate 165Hz to 144Hz and disabling AMD FreeSync Premium on Adrenalin my Dell S2722DGM monitor. These changes improved stability but didn’t entirely resolve the issue.

Of course each time ive used DDU in safe mode and AMD cleanup utility.

I downgraded to Adrenalin 23.10.2, thinking it might help since no crash indicate in the release notes, but crashes became more frequent. I also tried disabling MPO in the registry, but I’m unsure if it made a difference.

Interestingly, my brother’s system has a similar configuration (same GPU model, different brand), and he’s facing identical problems, which suggests this isn’t a hardware issue.

Are these low-power state crashes a known problem with AMD drivers? Is there a permanent fix or a beta driver addressing this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you running any overclocks or undervolts on your CPU or GPU?

Hi,

No, the only overclock is on my RAM with EXPO enabled to run at 6000 MHz. But I'm pretty sure it's not the RAM causing the issue. I've built PCs before, enabled EXPO, and everything ran smoothly. The problem I'm facing is related to the display/graphics.

I see you have the 7900XT as well. Which version of the driver are you using? And are you running with AMD FreeSync Premium enabled?

I read this forum post: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/for-rx-7900-series-amd-freesync-issues-is-confirmed-if-you-have-bo....

It seems like it could be a monitor problem.

My gaming monitor, the S2722DGM, supports AMD FreeSync Premium, so I don't understand why FreeSync is causing issues. By the way, I disabled AMD FreeSync Premium on the monitor for now.
