Hello everyone,
Someone was so kind to donate me a HP Compaq 6910P notebook, a rather ancient machine :-). The features of this notebook say that my hardware should be outfitted with a ATI Mobility RadeonTM X2300 graphics card.
I downloaded the driver software from this website: radeon-software-adrenalin-2020-21.5.1-minimalsetup-210505_web
It installs the AMD Software Installer. When I run this, it gives back an error messge: Error 184 - AMD Installer cannot continue due to an unsupported operating system.
I'm simply running Windows 10 64-Bit.
Can anyone help me here?
Yours kindly,
Aviilokin K'shi
Quick search of your graphics, it is from 2007.
There are no drivers from AMD for that on Windows 10.
No driver update will ever work.
according to this article on the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 it is a renamed X1350 GPU:
ATI Mobility Radeon X2300
ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 is the successor of ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 for notebooks. Technically it is just a renamed X1350 and therefore also only supports DirectX 9. Also the gaming performance is compareable to the X1350. This means only very low setting in not very demanding games can be displayed fluently.
As other X1000 cards the X2300 supports AVIVO video engine to accelerate MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9 and VC-1 videos.
Here is the last drivers for the X1350: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/legacy-graphics/ati-radeon-x-series/ati-radeon-x1xxx-series
There are no Windows 10 drivers for that legacy AMD GPU unless via Windows Update Windows 10 finds a compatible driver.
If it doesn't then you are out of luck.
Ancient graphics. Way not supported for Windows10...or any OS except Vista.
Thank you everyone,
Indeed it looks like I'm out of luck :-).
All the best,
