Does AMD Crash Defender Service only report bugs - or does it enhance stability

Hi

I like to use all the resources of my PC for myself, so for example doing things like computing, rather than running services and background apps that companies think I should be running. But, I also don't want to introduce any instability etc.

So I am runnning Windows 10 Pro, I have a 7950x, and I have noticed

AMD Crash Defender Service

running, its an actual application and is in the Windows system32 folder and called "c:\Windows\System32\amdfendrsr.exe"

So can I stop this process without anything detrimental to my system occuring ? Does it only help send bug reports to AMD ?

Or does this service actually do anything to make the system more stable etc ? Why AMD would need a software application to keep their hardware stable is anyones guess - but if I need to I will let it run on my system.

I suspect you can stop it, this is what's in my MSconfig window:

The "AMD Crash Defender Service" should not be there, I have crash detection turned off in the driver control panel.  We need to report this a bug. Adrenalin 24.9.1

You might saved my life i had exactly the same problems as you. Full Amd system Ryzen 5 2600 rx 570 8gb 16gb Ram at 2666mhz. For weeks even a month everything was fine and then after a while random restarts when i was trying to load a game even if i was playing the same game for a week without problem. I disable them both from service and i ll give a try to your post. I ll update in the future if that worked for me.
