Constant crashes in all games after 20 minutes to an hour 7900XTX

I'm having crashes all the time, not matter the game.

I've done updates, roll backs, cleared drivers, changed settings left right and centre, adjusted fan curves to be aggressive to ensure it's not an overheating issue but nothing seems to work.

Fixes I've done so far that I can remember (there's been a LOT):
Disabled ULPS in registry
Disabled GameBar overlay
Disabled Discord overlay
Disabled Discord Hardware Acceleration
Disabled Integrated Graphics in BIOS
Disabled Windows driver updates
Disabled Adrenaline overlay
Lowered GPU clock speed
Used DDU and installed 23.12.1 drivers
Used AMD Cleanup utility

The error I'm getting on Event Viewer is:
Display driver amduw23g stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I'm also getting the following on Event Viewer after the crash:
Good news—%1 has been enhanced for a brighter and more detailed picture. You can turn off Auto HDR any time in Settings.

Here is some info from System Info:
System Model B650M AORUS ELITE AX
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor, 4201 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
SMBIOS Version 3.5
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 64.0 GB
Name AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Driver Version 31.0.23013.1023

It's driving me up the wall and I'm tempted to just get a new Nvidia card so I don't have to deal with these AMD driver issues, but I don't want to drop ~£1000 because of something that shouldn't be happening.

Can anyone think of anything that could help?!

I'm sorry to hear you're having all these driver crashes, but also happy to hear it's not just me. I've only had my 7900 XTX for a month or two and I've been running into this more often than not and it's also driving me up the wall. It's a good card and shouldn't be having all these issues. Swapped over from an NVIDIA 4060 Ti 16gb which ran really smooth but it just wasn't powerful enough to play games with all the eye candy that I wanted. Had I known there was going to be this many issues, I might have went with a 4080 / Super, but a friend of a friend had the 7900 XT and said nothing but good things about it.

For me personally, I've tried undervolting the GPU and several of the fixes you've tried as well. Just had a few more crashes today and last night. Going try another fresh install of Adrenaline after running DDU, hoping it'll stabilize something but we really need a long term fix. If you happen to find anything else out, please share and I'll do the same!

Same here. Almost 4 month of this problem.

Nothing helps: fresh intalls, DDU install, updated BIOS, updated chipsets, upgrade PSU to 1200W, undervolting, underclocking.

Today i crashed in Albion. You know, the game that can run on my phone...

Warranty service team said that card is FINE.

And AMD still not even submited the problem.

  • GYGABITE 7900XTX
  • Ryzen 7 7700X
  • TUF Gaming B650M-PLUS (chipset driver 6.10.22.027)
  • 32GB DDR5 Kingston FURY Beast Black RGB [KF560C40BBA-16]
  • PSU ADATA XPG CORE REACTOR II 1200 GOLD

That's absolutely wild! I'm not liking this switch from NVIDIA to AMD for the graphics card, which is unfortunate because my switch from Intel to AMD for processors has been so smooth and nothing but what they are, upgrades. I really hope we can get this settled with some proper driver updates that actually work and are stable because clearly it's not just the hardware.

Hey i solved my issue with 7900 xtx. Card was absolutely normal. Mb we can fix yours, coz mb your issue similar to mine. So, lets do your RAM memory test. Serious test i mean, lets start with you turn off your amd expo or xmp profile and run jedec default profile than go play Space Marine 2 test, ok?

So you're thinking ram oc is the issue? I could give it a try and see if it makes any changes!

So I reset the ram oc back to defaults but I'm unfortunately still getting driver crashes with DirectX but it doesn't seem as often? I was reading on Reddit, someone with similar issues and they found their problems solved by swapping out the power cables to their GPU with individual cables instead of the splitter cables that came with their PSU. Which got me thinking, that's the same thing I have mine setup. Default splitter cables from the PSU going to the GPU. So I might try to get some new cables next week and give that a try to rule out any power issues.

What version of your XTX, vendor? Fist about hardware, if videocard ok, there is 2 options we must check. RAM and PSU. You said after you turned to default you got less crashes right? So we are not finish yet. Please install mem5 test and do custom profile memory test. On default jedec memory profile. We must sure that no memory issues on 100% I explain, i got two different PC, so my 7900 xtx was crashing non stop on space marine 2, mechwarrior 5 clans, dragon dogma 2. It was crashing like driver timeout, blackscreen hard reset, system freezes in game. Adrenaline was crashing and sets settings by default by unexpected system failure. And some how i finish Ghost of Tsusima and Monster Hunter World with Zero crashes. Also i played alot Tekken 8 with no crashes or driver time outs. But in the end on my fist PC with 13700KF 32gb ram ddr5 6000 G skill with samsung chips, and Aorus Z690 Ultra, and issue was motherboard, errors on memory on 6000 mhz, i stable it on 5600 and driver timeouts stopped. Another same issues was on my current main system. Asrock taichi x670e + ddr 5 6000 team group T-create expert 30-36-36-78 with hynix a-die chips. Same driver timeouts, but motherboard was fine problems was with CPU. I temporary bought ryzen 5 8400f for future upgrade. So this cpu cant hanle this memory on 6000 with 1.35 voltage. Same space marine 2 driver's timeouts like my previous system with 13700kf. Sooo i set 1.39 voltage on RAM...and 0 time outs sinse then. Its around 80 hours of game play. Dragons dogma 2 fixed, mechwarrior fixed. That all what i want to say.

I start digging. Found out that my RAM do not have AMD EXPO and whole setup is amd oriented.
I also do not know how to run JEDEC profile. Will try to dig more but if you have a quick answer would be cool

Its simple default. Turn XMP off. Your memory will start at 4800 mhz

Checked, it was default. Now i am trying XMP.
