Hello,
It seems I have a problem launching games using OpenGL when my desktop is set to 1920x1080 resolution.
Depending on the game, it might crash back to desktop instantly (Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered or Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered), or leave me with a black or white screen and only audio (The Binding of Isaac Repentance+). For the latter, Alt-Tabbing doesn't solve the issue, the game is crashed with no picture and I have to kill the task.
However, if I switch down my desktop resolution to 1600x900 (or any below 1920x1080) the game launches fine in fullscreen.
Alternatively, if the game allows so, I can launch in windowed mode at 1920x1080, but some games don't allow it (like Soul Reaver Remastered and Tomb Raider Remastered), and in any case, I would like to play fullscreen.
My GPU is a Radeon RX 6700 XT
Yeah, this has been a problem since 24.6.1 and it's still not fixed. A bunch of folks here, including me, have reported the same issue with a bunch of OpenGL games.
Adding to the list of OpenGL applications that don't work when running at 1920x1080:
- MAME when running with OpenGL
- PCSX2 when running with OpenGL
- Blue Revolver
- Balatro (and basically any game made with the LÖVE framework)
- Half-Life and its expansions
RX 5500 XT connected to a 1080p Samsung television via HDMI.
can you tell me the specific model of your monitor, besides, Could you please try changing some display-related settings in the Windows system settings to test this (But need to make sure the game runs in full screen mode) , Also, try to perform the "Restore Factory Settings" via the physical control buttons of your monitor. as we suspect this is related to the configuration of some monitors.
Hello,
I already factory resetted my monitor (no buttons on it per se, but in the menus).
The model is a Samsung TV UE46D7000 connected via HDMI
Have you tried using other monitors ?
I don't have any other monitor available to test
For 1080p, the manual for tv says to make sure the refresh in windows is 60hz, and picture mode on tv should be standard or entertain.
Also, what sort of cable are you using? Straight hdmi i assume.
The refresh in Windows is 60hz, and there is only two picture mode on TV : Standard and Entertain. Both have the same problem
