What about 24.2.1 ?
For me on 7900xt 24.2.1 has the same problems with the crashes. For rendering I cannot say, since I don't use it.
24.2.1 crashes as well on the 7900xtx only drivers i found to work perfect after you clean out old drivers with DDU was 23.11.1
I used DDU cleaned out drivers then installed older drivers 23.11.1 works perfect now.

your welcome
This driver version breaks Lightroom Classic. Constant freezing, crashing, and weird color changes. Confirmed by wiping 1 week old laptop and building up one piece of software at a time until LRc no longer worked.
This driver made all my games unplayable. I'm not exaggerating either. I get either a directx error on Warzone, or it just crashes my PC completely. Helldivers crashes before I can even get through training, every single time. PUBG looks like potato land. Tarkov crashes randomly.
I rolled back to 23.11.1 from November and every game is rock solid. I'm not sure about Helldivers because I returned it through Steam... but you guys have to do something about these drivers. Both the December driver and now this January driver crash games constantly. I paid $900 for my 7900XTX and while it's not a 4090, this thing shouldn't have these kinds of issues.
I am all for Drivers that improve performance , and I am all for getting better performance out of older equipment saving people money.
BUT.....
I also believe that the devices you buy, should especially these days have the pure brute horsepower to do the job on simple basic drivers!
I honestly applaud AMD and Nvidia for trying to get the best "FPS" out of their cards, but WHY????
the only way your going to benefit from a High FPS is if you have a High HZ monitor. 60Hz = 60 FPS, 100Hz Monitor = 100FPS, 120Hz Monitor =120FPS you get the gist!
The Majority of People are running 60Hz Monitors so they are locked at 60FPS, they then use the Horsepower of the cards to increase their visual experience of the game / application at the capability of their Monitor.
Using Frame Generation, is giving you the upped experience, but at the cost of the actual scenes.
I for one would like to have the drivers Enrich the visual display with Ray Tracing - shading - colour replication, all at my Monitors capabilities. Not making me have too run out and spend Hundred's & thousands of Pounds / Dollars / Euros / Whatever is your local currency in buying a 300Hz + Monitor to play a game that's going to cost you $/€/£60 to buy!!!
Over and Above the Problems I have had with These Drivers, I am More than impressed with the Asus Gaming OC 7900XTX, its still playing Metro Exodus Full Ray Tracing as well (possibly Better) as My EVGA RTX2080 FTW3 Gaming Ultra (they really have to shorten these names!!!) did. and at 4K 60Hz.
This may be a moan and Groan page in the majority, but I hope AMD Keeps going Forward , as well as intel and Nvidia , it benefits everyone in the long run!!!
as an unsolicited Dig in, in case anyone from AMD actually reads these!!! How about Joining in with Steve and Wendel / Gamers Nexus , and get the Old RGB standardised, as well as a few other things that need to go back the way on a common platform!!
