AMD In-Game overlay not working

Basically the Adrenaline in-game overlay and the relive features have stopped working. The overlay seems to be working just fine when I'm just on the desktop, but when i try to open it in game via the hotkeys (alt + Z or alt + R) it does not appear at all. I've tried factory resetting the settings of AMD Adrenaline but nothing seems to work.

I did find out that if i DDU and reinstall the Amd drivers with Adrenaline, the in game overlay will work normally until i restart or shut down the computer. In the next boot the problem appears again. I have disabled ALL the background programs in order to check if something caused it but the problem still persists.

This happens on Full screen and borderless modes.

Note: Adrenaline detects the games, the Adrenaline pop up appears every time i launch the game.

Any assistance is appreciated cause its driving me crazy.

Check the following:

1. Settings > Hotkeys:

2. Settings > Preferences

Test it using the following toggle. It should show up when you enable it even if you are not in a game if the game detection is off.

Thanks for the response.

As I've mentioned the overlay works perfectly fine on desktop, with that being said the above settings are both enabled.

I tried enabling Metrics overlay while in game but it does not work. if i try to enable it via the hotkey while in game, nothing happens and on Adrenaline, the settings seems to be enabled.

As expected it will work just fine on desktop.

Just wanted to say...haha.. yes it works flawless every time on Desktop. You can stop the AMD apps try to just run the app again. you can reboot.... you can stop SO many  other apps.. when it happens on more then one PC then in Windows 10 and windows 11. When the tiny box always seems to show up in game telling you can use ALT-R... that  for some odd reason works great but.. press ALT-R in game? nothing

So if you have the overlay displayed on desktop and start a game, it will disappear?

Game detection is disabled or enabled?

Exactly. It disappears whenever I launch or go back to a game.

Game detection is enabled.

Currently on 24.10.1

Today I encountered this issue too. When I turn on a game, in the top right I see the overlay showing up for a brief moment. However clicking ALT+R or CTRL+SHIFT+O does not work. Although It does work on desktop. I am just hoping they can get this fixed in the next version.

I'm little late but for me under system settings in amd app, "reset game stats" helped.Snimka zaslona 2025-01-22 223030.png

Hey... there is no hope here. Well I just replied to thread on reddit 3y ago. I just replied to a post here 2023 and now yours 2024 ALL with the same problem. Its not ever game .. but its way to many that.. I am at lose now. In game the tiny square in the upper right corner works great but Alt-r? Nothing. Go to desktop .. works great. Metrics. nothing in game.. go to desktop there it is. And duh quit or quit the app .. restart it.. go in game and? Nothing, You try quitting so many other apps running trying to fix this. You start to search and... WOW this has been going on for sooo many years now. Yes on my 4090 Nvidia did this sometimes but not like this.

Now this is ANY computer... 12300k 14900k.. windows 10 windows 11. Yeah.. so its them. They know this.. there are so many having this same problem for so many years now.

Update

The issue resolved itself months ago randomly.

Super weird but occasionally it comes back.

That's how AMD works...

My Metric Overlay for newer version also bit weird. Old driver version, it just works normal. The new one a bit worse, if my game is not in focus, FPS will become N/A.

For example, I play Death Stranding and also play mini player youtube and put it on right bottom. Old driver will still show FPS even my focus is on youtube miniplayer, but now become N/A and will show FPS number if I change the focus on the game.

Not all game can do that, Death Stranding quite good with it. Even my mouse focus on another apps, but my controller still works as expected not like others game when out of focus will auto pause or controller also not works until we click or alt-tab back to the game.
