AMD graphics driver causes crash

I have built many pc's in the past, but the problem I am having with this new
build pc is throwing me for a loss.

I have tried numerous combinations off all of the following parts. all new

Motherboard's    gigabyte b550i aorus pro ax ,  and msi mag b550m mortar max wifi
Bio-s  latest plus 3 previous for each

CPU's  Ryzen 5 5500 GT, and Ryzen 7 5700GT  both with stock amd cooler  both with internal GPU.

Memory-  corsair  vengeance SPX (16gb 2x8)   G.Skill Ripjaws V  8 gb

SSD/HDD Crucial ssd 500gb nvme  and WD Blue 500gb 3.5 inch

Power Supply   corsair  cx750M  and Aresgame  AGV500

Windows  24H2,  23H2, 22H2

Drivers-  Various issues of amd direct and ones from gigabyte, MSI

Base install windows 11 pro.  No Internet.

WIndows install fine and will run without any issue. (graphics driver at this time is Microsoft basic)

ISSUE-  No matter what combination of hardware or versions, as soon as either manual install of amd
graphics installs, or thru windows update when the internet is connected, when it is at the point of
installing the graphics driver, the screen will blink once, then go black and will not restart.  The
OS will not restart again and will go thru the selection of troubleshooting.

At this time the only way of recovery is one of 3 possible ways.
format the drive, and re install windows.
revert to a restore point.
Possible works is restart to safe mode and run amd cleanup.

If restarting in safe mode, event viewer shows multiple multiple dcom errors. These were not there
prior to trying to install the graphics driver.

Memory was tested with memtest86 for 5 yours-  no problems.
SDD tested with no problems.

I do see various really near the same problems that people have had during the last 2 to 3 years.

Any recommendations on what to try?

Not sure what else to suggest, kinda seems like your IGP is toast?

I am also running a 5700G on a B550 with 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 and using the IGP via HDMI to a 4K TV. Overclocking the CPU/GPU with 90W PPT, +200 OC and -25 CO on both. 4 heatpipe cooler. 600W power supply, Windows 11 23H2, Adrenalin 24.9.1

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

Looking at some other sites, if you look at this one  https://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-dcom-error-1084-on-windows-10

While it is for windows 10, the dcom errors are exactly what happens during graphics install.

So the questions is also what in this process is causing Registry errors and/or corrupt system files in

this process.

For the 5500GT you are trying to install Adrenalin 24.9.1 for Polaris/Vega correct? Not a version of Adrenalin for RDNA?

I'm not aware of a 5700GT, did you mean 5600GT or possibly 5700G?

Ryzen R7 5700X | B550 Gaming X | 2x16GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 7900XT
Ryzen R7 5700G | B550 Gaming X | 2x8GB G.Skill 4000 | Radeon Vega 8 IGP
Ryzen R5 5600 | B550 Gaming Edge | 4x8GB G.Skill 3600 | Radeon RX 6800XT

The 2 that I was testing are the 5500gt and  ryzen 7 5700g.

I can install anything else, but as soon as the graphics driver install is in process, it will crash.  Today after the crash, I can't get back into safe mode and the restore point that I created, also got corrupted.

Ran HWinfo for hours, and no temperature issues.

The cpu that i have in both motherboards for testing, (msi and gigabyte) with the ryzen 7 5700g both

react the same way to the driver install.

Yes i also am using the 24.9.1 polaris vega driver

So I did  some further testing and work.  I extracted the diaplay driver section from the adrenalin vega installer which yielded the WT6A_INF folder and .inf.   I went to device manager clicked on the generic microsoft driver and updated by selecting the i have an installer, pointed to the .inf  and it goes thru installation until it crashes.

That shows me that the .exe installer is not the issue, it is something within that INF folder that is causing the problem.  When I then go to safe mode, the correct driver is installed, and it shows no errors but something is

corrupted either in a direct file, or within the registry that prevents the pc from restarting.  Doing AMD cleaup usually fixes the issue, and places the default driver back in place, and then the pc will restart.

More trials.  I did a clean install without anything else installed.

Used RegShot-x64 to record registry

Installed driver from WT6a_INF folder.  PC Crashed.

Re-ran regshot and compared the 2 hives.

Keys deleted-  70973

Keys added 2431

Values deleted  196413

Values added 5347

Values modified  327

In safe mode ran amd cleaner-

re ran regshot and compared

Keys deleted  72223

Keys added 5563

Values deleted  197567

Values added  10463

Values modified 1206.

Restartted PC back into safe mode with generic ms graphic driver.

Installed the same INF as before.  says completed and installed ok.

Ver  31.0.14046.0

Catalog  v0390626

Driver is ditgitally signed.  MS compatabile.

Tried to restart PC.  It will not start- just black screen.

I don't know if any of this additional information may lead to a clue for this issue.

I went out and purchased 2 new memory sticks and upgraded from 16gb to 32gb. Corsair ddr4 3200mhz.

whql-amd-software-adrenalin-adition-24.9.1-win10-win11-vega-polaris.exe

This failed as well.

Summary to date.

All new hardware

3 different sets of memory

2 different power supplies

2 different motherboards

2 different ssd nvme and 1 try of 3.5 ingh hdd

windows 24h2 23h2 22h2  windows 10 as well

common denometator is trying to use the onboard gpu for the motherboard graphics connectors

THe only thing that I have not tried is a separate graphics card.

If you are getting corrupted files that is most likely faulty memory.

If you are using XMP/EXPO try disabling that.

EXPO is disabled.

I was thinking of the memmry.  I have tested 2 types.  What is in there now is a g.skill 2666 single 8gb stick.

The odd thing is that on a fresh os install, i can disable drivers in microsoft updates, download all of the

microsoft updates, install all of the other drivers for the cpu/motherboard combo, without any issue. It is only this one specific graphics driver that can't get thru.  If there was a memory issue, I would think that it would show up somewhere else.

When I did some testing on the inf file (deleteing everything past when it determines what is there)

I shows that it wants to install %AMD1638.47%  which is the cezanne  vega 8
