Hello. I have posted my problem on an old post about the same problem that some people have been having. Windows keep reseting the AMD drivers to the Factory drivers that your Computer came with. I will give you some solutions that work for windows 10 atleast but do not Work for me in windows 11.
First of all my PC is a Lenovo Laptop with an AMD CPU 5800H 7th generation that has also Intergrated AMD RADEON Graphics. I went into the main page of AMD I searched for the best Drivers to download and I was recommended to download AMD Adrenalin edition 20.2.1.0 The latest version. I installed it all well and good. Then my windows 11 updated and reinstalled the old Factory version drivers and now the Adrenalin programs gives the following prompt :
I followed the link and tried the recommended solution : Go to advanced system settings go to hardware and turn off the windows auto driver update. Then I retried. Failure. The old drivers got reinstalled when I press windows update to search for updates.
Then I tried solution number 2 : Go to device manager : find your display unistall and Delete the factory drivers while having the previous solution still active. Then I reinstalled AMD adrenalin again. Failure. I pressed windows update and it replaced the drivers to the old ones again.
Solution Number 3 : Download a registry config from Major geeks found in this post : https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/windows-update-overwriting-amd-driver-on-my-laptop/m-p... . I did it while still having all other options active mind you just to be sure. Then I clicked windows update. Failure plus I also got a virus from that registry config... the old drivers got reinstalled.
Solution Number 4: Usethe old windows show/hide trouble shooter program that was recommended on a microsoft post where this same problem was adressed. I downloaded the troubleshooter from MajorGeeks to hide/disable the automatic update. The trouble shooter said that this
I was happy since I thought I finally disabled it. No.... It ended in failure again... And the old drivers got reinstalled again... I STILL HAVE ALL THE OTHER SOLUTIONS ACTIVE!!!!!
Lastly today : I tried with the DISPLAY DRIVER Unistaller programm (DDU) . I followed the procedure that was posted on their website and removed the old drivers and I activated the option : stop windows from automatically updating your drivers. I rest my laptop just like I did on all other methods (as I was told) and then downloaded AMD adrenalin edition. Then I pressed windows update to check for updates... And the old drivers got reinstalled AGAIN!!!!
IF anyone has found any other solution for this(that works for windows 11 Not 10) Please for the love of god contact me because I will have an aneurism . I have tried to keep the new drivers a total of 15 times now but they always get replaced by the old ones..
Please someone help me....
Windows showed me this prompt. It is in Greek and I will translate it. Windows could not find gpedit.msc . Make sure that you have typed the name correctly and try again. I tried it a couple of times. I even copied and pasted gpedit.msc but it keeps showing me the prompt above.
Edit : I googled as to why this was happening and it seems microsoft has removed qpedit from windows home both 10 and 11. So I watch a video of MajorGeeks on how to add gpeditmsc on my pc. And now gpedit.msc works.
Edit : It did not work I enabled do not include drivers in Windows updates but it still reset the drivers to the old ones after I pressed for windows to scan for updates...
The bottom one says AMD (the version). 100% downloaded. To prove that I did not **bleep** up I will also screenshot the gpedit programm where I have the the do not include drivers enabled.
The word οχι means no but it is under the column comment and not under the column status. The column status shows ενεργός which means activate-enabled. Saddly windows still installed the old factory drivers again so this method also failed.
Probably because you have Windows Home edition? Please read the entire link I posted.
Add Group Policy Editor to Win10 Home:

Lots of people don't like the idea of 'stopping/delaying' Windows updates. I won't get in to that. Here is a way to prevent Windows Update installing any drivers. This does not effect the security, quality, patch, or any other type update...they are presented as normal.
In short...you don't have to worry about WU installing (changing) AMD graphics drivers.
This is done through group policy:
Type gpedit in the search bar...follow > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
On the right side scroll to Do not include drivers with Windows Update policy and double click it. Select the ENABLED option.
Click 'Apply' then OK.
Reboot your computer.
I edited my answer on the previous comment above to add. I succesfuly added gpedit.msc on my pc. and I also successfuly enabled the command do not included drive
rs on windows updates. I also took screen shots to prove it . The sentence on top says Do not include drivers in Windows updates. Yet when I pressed windows to search for updates to see if it worked after I had installed AMD adrenalin it reinstalled the old drivers again .
The sentence says . AMD drivers (version) downloaded 100%.
Did you reboot after making the change? You must reboot.....
Hello again. I tried 4 more times the procedure. The 3 times It still reinstalled all the old drivers. But on the 4th try I did this.
Normally that option is checked by default on the AMD adrenalin installer. But I unchecked it and now windows DID NOT reset the drivers. BUT!! it still downloaded some AMD related drivers... Soo .... could I have jsut unchecked that option and everything would have been fine from the start? I cannot possibly know. But please tell me was I supposed to uncheck that option from the start in the AMD adrenalin installer? That option is in the Advanced settings of the installer. Let me translate what it says : It says return to factory prototype or factory version. Was I supposed to know that I had to disable that optionfrom the start? From all the videos on youtube I have seen nobody mentioned unchecking that option in the installer. Anyway thank you for your time and sorry for the mess.
You should uncheck 'check for updates' in Adrenalin....that overrides the 'do not check' value you set in the registry. It means Windows Update will not issue driver updates but the application (Adrenalin) can search for them if you tell it to.
Thank you. Could you also tell me about that option I unchecked on the installer. The screenshot on my prior comment is from the AMD adrenalin installer's first panel. Could you tell me if that is what caused the drivers to reset every time.
Sorry, I can't read the option you are talking about....language. Can you get a better translation?
