AMD DAYZ LOW GPU USAGE FIX

English:

Since my last post here I have been studying the subjects even more, and looking for the differences in DX11 from driver 22.5.1 to 24.2.1, I finally found something that AMD did with the aim of improving performance in DX11 games to try to to match Nvidias, the addition of DXNAVI, an optimization for DX11/DX9.

With this in mind, I started looking in different places about it and got several answers and good explanations, I'll leave the links at the end of the post so you can read them.

For me, disabling DXNAVI from DX11 and using it in the standard way solved the problem of looking at the city and having reduced GPU usage and very low FPS.
It's worth saying that I tested with the 24.2.1 driver and was unsuccessful, but with the 23.11.1 (Driver that I use and that for me is better than the others)

Here is the GUIDE on how you can do it: https://nimez-dxswitch.pages.dev/NzDXSwitch
And here are some links with discussions on the subject:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/zx95x9/psa_disable_dxnavi/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/14ga51j/a_whole_year_and_things_that_broke_after_2251/

Do it on your own and study the subject a little before trying, I am not responsible for any crash or damage to the operating system due to carrying out the process incorrectly.

The DX11 DLLs without NAVI in driver 23.11.1 are in the default directory, but in driver 24.2.1 they are in C:/Windows/System32.

@Matt_AMD  Good job bro!. We still have low gpu usage in cities.

That is insane if it's true

Apparently it is fixed in 24.10.1. Anyone tried it yet?

We addressed an issue that caused lower than expected GPU perfomrance and usage in Day-Z in 24.10.1.

Thank you for your patience.

It's a joke right? The game was not fixed at all, the low gpu usage remains the same, this update was the last chance I was giving my rx6600 to be fixed... It's time to switch to nvida

And for those who do not plan to switch to Nvidia, they have to wait another 2 years for a new update.

тем кто не планировал переходить на nvidia, придется запланировать это. Я уже продал свою 7800xt и купил новую 4070 S и забыл о проблемах в игре, разница ощутима!!!

Clearly, it isn't fixed. It's now worse in base and cities.??? And GPU usage is still low—60 %. I can't wait for RTX 5090.  High fps yet feels like playing at 70 frames.  and the funny thing arma reforger on the same engine runs well.....

its 10 year old game why the hell do you have such an issue with it?

I have no words

Well, here's my experience with this new update.
It seems to have improved, but only a little.
GPU usage used to be below 50% with little FPS, now in most places it's 99%, with some FPS gains, but there are still places where the card remains at 99% but the FPS drops considerably.
What I tried:
Various video settings within the game.
Clean reinstallation of AMD drivers (using this).

I haven't tried reinstalling the game yet, but I don't think I will.

I have an RX 7600 8GB, and it's still having performance problems.

Still drops below 40% in cities

Which cities have you tested and what is your PC configuration?

I haven’t played the game for a long time because of performance issue and I only have 150 hours in it, so I can't recognize the city, but it's a big one near a coast with a fire station. I have 3700x with rx 6750 xt.

UPD. I'm pretty sure it was Elektrozavodsk.

Well, then we know that the driver fix didn't fix much.

Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodks for example.

I've logged into any server and I'm born in cherno, and I can confirm that at various times the FPS simply drops to 50 again.
Especially in the location in the screenshot below.

The problem is still not fixed. It is the same as before.... Are you joking, right? @Matt_AMD

no fix......Gpu low usage 24/10/1

With the new AMD driver update, the problem has not been fixed. And in general, as it turned out, the problem is global. Drivers 23.9.1 cope with games much more efficiently than new ones. At 7800xt, the FPS rose by an average of 20 percent and the hotspot dropped by 5 degrees. How do you explain it?

Performance is worse for my RX 7600.

The GPU usage is all over the place. It seems to spike to 100% when looking into empty areas, and drop to 60% in cities, around 80-90% in forests.

My FPS dropped to as low as 30 FPS in city, and that happens on every settings higher than "poor".

Hello, I bought an rx 7800xt for the dayz game last week and was completely disappointed in the performance, since it outputs from 50 to 120 frames with frequent slowdowns at maximum settings, it is not comfortable to play, and another problem in the game is pixel textures, they are very clearly visible on the grass 50 meters from the character, and immediately striking, as well as bushes and trees, before that there was a gtx 1080 video card, so everything was fine on it without pixels and the speed was not much worse. I am disappointed as I expected at least 120+ stable frames for such a price. Fix this problem, it is impossible to play. Here are the screenshotsScreenshot_3.jpgScreenshot_4.jpgScreenshot_5.jpg

@Matt_AMD"We addressed" and "we worked" please tell me this is just bad wording and it's not used in the past tense form intentionally and you are still working on this issue and we should expect improvements in the future. And if that's the case, still releasing a driver with mention of improvements without actual noticeable improvements is, let's say, a very bad joke.

There is a 7800xt graphics card that should pull at the maximum dayz settings of 140 frames per second, just like its counterpart 4070 super. But this is not so? Why? The latest driver update did not fix this. I will be forced to return the graphics card back to the store and switch to nvidia

24.10.1 fixed it for me, 144 fps caped everywhere and before i would barely get 60 on NWAF

What is your gpu usage in chernogorsk?

I am capped at 140 fps tho, it might go higher without the cap, most of the time its on 60% GPU usage when running in the main square but staying on stable 140 fps, the screenshot is the peak of gpu usage when i tped into the midle of cherno

Bottom line is the DID fix something, before i had 60fps in cherno

Yeah it's still broken. You should get 99% gpu usage.  130 fps with your specs is really low. U capped fps at 140 but you still can't reach this limit.

The 132 was a the lowest it really got, its the first frame when i TPed my self around to force more gpu utilization, the next second it was up at 140 again. My point was not that they fixed it entierly, but it runs way better than before... before i was getting choppy 60fps in cherno and NWAF with big lows especialy in gunfights, now that is gone and it can atleast reach stable 140

I have 5600x and 7800xt and the latest driver, it's not comfortable to play, intermittent speed from 50 to 120, on average 70-90 with frequent drawdowns and brakes, and also pixel graphics, it's terrible

I’m glad to hear your issue is resolved. However, it seems some users are still experiencing the same problem.

For those still facing issues with version 24.10.1, could you please provide your system specifications, image quality settings, and the specific area in the game where the issue occurs?

If possible, sharing two screenshots—one with an earlier driver showing better performance and one with the current driver—would be very helpful.

In single places, gpu usage rises to 90%, but when I look in another direction it can suddenly drop to 50% (Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk.). The usage is not stable. The worst is in the outskirts of the city where there are trees and buildings, there the fps drops below 60 because the card usage is very low. There are still places where I don't have stable 60 fps. I posted screenshots of where I barely reached 50 fps.

Thanks for the video.

Would it be feasible for you to do another video on the earlier driver version which you claim has better performance?

This additional information would be helpful.

AMD 24.9.1 here. Maybe a bit better but with stutters (Probably due to shaders)
The drivers with the patch for DayZ - 21.11.3 - work best, but they are too old to use. On the new drivers disabling DXNAVI helps a lot but in many games it degrades performance so I have to switch between dxnavi legacy and optimized every time. Disabling DXNAVI optimization also doesn't help 100% because performance is still degraded against nvidia gpu equivalents or the 21.11.3 driver.

Can you provide some footage running the 21.11.3 driver similar to the video you posted above in DayZ?

I can't find the 21.11.3 drivers on the AMD website. have they been removed?

I'll look into that, I could only find it hosted on Guru3d.

They are on guru3d but I got 404 error.. I will try 22.5.1

22.5.1 It's not perfect but it doesn't work badly I think.

Thanks. I will pass details of those two videos on to see if there is any room for additional further improvement.
