5% to 10% fps loss in windows 20H2 vs 2004

Hi ,

i just compared time spy extreme scores between my two windows installations (on same system, using bios boot menu)

CPU : 5950x , GPU : 6800xt (oc @ 2650 + 2100ram + 1030mV uv  )

windows 10 2004 adrenalin 20.12.2 - graphics score : 9150

windows 10 20H2 adrenalin 20.12.2 - graphics score : 8700

watching fps counter at some specific moments i see fps going to 67 fps in 2004 where it goes 61fps in 20H2

can someone confirm that with 2004 scores ? (even if not oc , i can do a run without oc to compare)

i think i will reinstall 2004 on my main hard drive if that confirms

(i just checked over the internet seem that it's related to windows , as nvidia users have the same issue)

ok it appears it's not related to 20H2 vs 2004 but related to some of the last windows updates and maybe in combination with virtualbox application

as soon as KB4598242 and KB4586876 and virtualbox are uninstalled fps are back to normal in time spy extreme

this is not precisly the exact solution i think as i can't say precisly what is the mess behind it  , but at least it works

so it appears to be more complicated .. as i tried to install twitter app , after that fps where not ok anymore , but after twitter app uninstalled again and reboot , fps back ok again .. so not trying to search further , lets just hope amd or microsoft seen the problem and correct it in next updates

sorry don't know how to unmark the solved thread but at least it can help i think

i will just report what i've seen to amd and hope it can help

I tested on many apps/games and the FPS increased for me (Metro Exodus, Blender, Horizon Zero Dawn, Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk 2077, AutoCAD 2020, DOOM Eternal, several Benchmarks etc.), some of them 10-15% but 20-30% also reached. I recognized some instability/driver issues (e.q. Horizon ZD with updates v1.08x-1.09 the game not starts/not runs, Blender got errors, some crash with changes the game Options etc.)

you seriously tested the performance of all this games between 2004 and 20H2 ? lol

in fact i reinstalled 20H2 , took me 5h to reinstall all my software, without installing the gpu driver , and then did a clonezilla of the disk ... then installed gpu driver , tested the perf , everything was ok ... so in  case there is another problem i can directly restore my disk and then reinstall only gpu ...

but seriously 10% to 30% ? ... strange , maybe you had a problem with your 2004 version then ...i tested time spy extrem in both and scores are the same when everything works as intended
