I just installed the latest 5700 xt drivers 19.8.1 and when i restart i get a blue screen and code Atikmdag.sys and have had to go into safe mode and roll back the drivers i then downloaded the drivers and installed them manually thinking that the self down loader may be the problem but it didn't help any ideas
Solved! Go to Solution.
This issue should be resolved in 19.9.2 driver which can be downloaded here.
same problem pls fix bug
Same problem for me. I have built a new rig and have had random BSods (about once a day) and was hoping new driver would help. It did not. it made it worse. Now Like the OP my PC gets BSod when I log into windows (10). Atikmdag.sys.
I have the same problem, multiple BSODs today, often with different error codes. I did not get BSODs before I switched from RX480 to RX5700XT
Specs:
Sapphire RX5700XT (brand new, installed today)
Ryzen 7 3700X (never had BSOD with this processor and RX480)
ASRock X570M Pro4
Corsair 2x16GB 3200MHz
ิ same me BSODS
Sapphire RX5700XT
Ryzen 7 3700X
x570 asus prime pro
Hey, just wandering, did you fix the issue? I have basically the same comp and i get bluescreens at least 2 times a day.
Nah I still get occasional blackscreens when playing games, and EVERY time I start or restart my computer it fails and reboots ONCE before finishing loading Windows.
I got the same problems! ♂
The operating system fell into a blue screen after turning the video on YouTube
RX5700XT
Ryzen 7 2700X
Yup i cant even get past login as soon as i enter my password bam blue screen i didnt test 2 see if it was my overclock doingbit but i dont see how it would
I had 2 BSOD's in a row today watching YT videos. 19.8.1
I experienced a BSOD yesterday watching Netflix -- Microsoft said...
page fault in non paged area
what failed: atikmdag.sys
when I rebooted Win10 said that RadeonSettings had been reset to default.
The only thing I had changed in RadeonSettings was the fan profile.
Then today Vivaldi crashed (no BSOD) and my Event viewer said...
The HandleCount for RadeonSettings seems to be maxing out my virtual memory which is already twice what Microsoft says I need.
I haven't messed with any settings; for example, my memory is still at the default 2133mhz.
Been having the same issue since installing 19.8.1, usually the bluescreens involve youtube or just alt-tabbing with a browser on the second monitor
Sapphire RX 5700 XT
Intel Core i5 8400
Edit: Rolling back seems to have stopped the blue screens, even if it reintroduces flickering problems on some GPU intensive games
3700x
5700xt
aorus x570 pro wifi
win10 pro
Same thing. BSOD upon reboot. Tried clean install, BSOD on youtube and other random instances.
My pc BSOD after installing new 19.8.1drivers, any fix? Has any tried installing back the old drivers after uninstalling new drivers?
I rollback to driver version 19.7.5 in safe mode and there seems to be no problem atleast for now. Windows run normally and games run normally as well
Me too... Have had much bugs with this build, ASUS 5700XT, ASUS STRIX x570 (originally MSI x570 replaced because so many bad things where happening)... but all the crashing was never blue screens, just a bunch of others issues. This driver blue screened on YouTube, basically came here just after that.
Same problem
If anyone is still having problems this is what I did:
PC: boot into safe networking mode
1) Installed DDU, Display Driver Uninstaller (Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.1.7 )
2) Run installation and unstill new drivers. (Uninstall Nvidia drivers if you have any)
3) Exit safe mode
4) Reinstall AMD drivers using the auto-detect download
It would probably work after this. It did for me
Already tried safe mode > ddu > 19.8.1. Worked for half a day then BSOD on
youtube again.

I have tried installing drivers 19.8.1, 19.7.5 and 19.7.1, each time uninstalling the previously installed driver with AMD Cleanup Utility in safe mode. All drivers have the same BSOD behavior.
When I first installed the card, PUBG worked, then stopped working and now I can't launch it without getting BSOD immediately.
ArmA 3 worked for 30 minutes, but now it can't launch without immediate BSOD.
Star Citizen works but sometimes crashes the driver without BSOD.
Youtube often leads to BSOD. So does Discord if I click around in the interface.
There are no issues whatsoever if I completely uninstall the AMD drivers and just use the default Windows Graphics Adapter.
In another thread, someone suggested reinstalling the driver and making sure NOT to turn on Enhanced Sync and VSR, but that didn't work for me, it still crashes.
dont setting it big bugs
I'm having the same issue too, 2700x crosshair VII and xfx 5700 xt.
I narrowed it down to the refresh rate. On my old 75hz monitor it would crash once every 2-3 days, upgrading to a new 100hz monitor increased the bsods to multiple times per day.
I have tried 19.7.1/2/3/4/5 and currently on 19.8.1. They all BSOD it seems, currently have a support ticket going which is useless. Every time i reply to tell them it still crashes they suggest a new driver to install, they wan't me to roll back to 19.4.1 now.
Anyways, I found settings my 100hz monitor to 60hz, turning off freesync on the monitor and in radeon settings and setting vsync always off lessens the problem. I don't think I have crashed as of yet @60hz, if it did it was only once or twice.
Anyways up to 14 bsods now and the only respite to to play at 60hz with no vsync and suffer bad stuttering and frame tearing.
So out of curiosity do any of you have high refresh monitors?
Just had my first crash at 60hz refresh :/
I do not own an RX5700XT yet.
I decided to let everyone else go through absolute driver hell for 6 months this time, and wait until RX5700XT prices drop to a sensible amount.
I cannot help you in detail but everyone here should file an AMD Reporting form (You can do that from the Adrenalin Driver), and you should all open an Email Support Case with AMD.
Support Ticket Process | AMD
and
Online Service Request | AMD
Also contact Sapphire Support:

This is just a User-User forum, and chatting here is fine for reporting issues amongst users but it might not get the attention of AMD unless you make sure to file reporting forms and open email support cases.
Good luck.
For anyone experiencing this issue whereby you experience a BSOD after installing 19.81, please could you provide the following information?
Once i have this information i will relay this feedback to engineering, thank you.
16GB DDR4 RAM
The update to 19.8.1 was initially done vvia Radeon Settings with no major issues on the fist day of it. From the second day onwards due to the blue screens I tried doing a clean instal through DDU + Safe Mode but the problem persisted
I'm not exactly sure what causes the issue, precisely. So far it has happened while playing games (FFXIV, League, Apex) or just browsing the web (Youtube in particular is one of the more disaster-prone sites) or even just browsing through Discord servers. Alt-tabbing or changing focus seems to also be a part of the problem but with how arbitrary it seemed to be I can't be sure of it.

Driver install method:
Uninstalled old driver. Cleaned all settings with DDU in safe mode. Install new driver.
Steps to reproduce:
Leave system at desktop. I didn't have to be doing anything to get a BSOD with this driver.
They also occur while gaming, web browsing, etc
Time to BSOD varies from 5 minutes to 45 minutes.
Uninstalling and going back to 19.7.5 completely resolves this problem.
I get BSOD watching Youtube vids on 19.8.1. Two in a row. 19.7.5 and .2 did not cause this. I rolled back to 19.7.5 and watched YT vids for hours today. I installed 19.8.1 via Express Install. Doing a clean install removes the Pixel Format button, which is an acknowledged issue.
Same problem with both atikmdag.sys error.
System crashes either on desktop or givers BSOD or restarts on its own after crashing. Never had a stable experience. YouTube video also results into crashes. All the Games crashes at different stages at different times at different temperatures. I have done atleast 5 DDU and reinstall. All AMD settings are at default.
Plz Fix it.

Describe your issue:
Many (5+) BSODs using Windows (Even when OS is idle) (With Driver 19.8.1 AND 19.8.2)
The new 19.8.2 keeps crashing.
I built my new PC yesterday. I have no problems when the GPU drivers are not installed. Once installed (latest drivers), and during installation, I encounter frequent freezes, either on the desktop or on a web page.
The BSoDs happen when I try to run some video games: a BSoD at the end of Rust loading (VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR), or at the end of GTA V loading (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, atikmdag.sys failed).
I have no problems with my old games (Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League, Minecraft).
Last BSOD Info ( It almost always is Atikmdag.sys)
Note: I will update this post with new erros
Next error after 30 minuts of stream watching:
Edit: Second time this error 2 hours of using youtube
Next BSOD:
Again BugcheckCode 10, actually testing turn off hardware acceleration in Firefox.
Today I'm read about Windows random BSOD, after last Windows update so maybe thats a point.
