Problem with Displayport AsRock 7900 GRE Monitor turns off 1 or 2 Seconds

Hi

I recently build a new PC and for some reason the connection to my monitor shuts off for a second or so. It looks like the monitor turns off briefly and then on again as if nothing happened that did not happen with my old GTX 1070. The build only has new parts. The games dont crash or anything and when i stream the game in discord for example my friends dont see anything strange like that. Other than that the PC runs smooth. And the second monitor sadly has no DP only HDMI and works fine. I tried different ports on the GPU sadly this issue persists. It was a clean Windows install and i installed AMD adrenalin and Chipset drivers for the CPU. I flashed the newest MB BIOS and temps seem fine with max 75C while playing Hogwarts legacy

Here the parts i used:

Gigabyte b650 eagle AX

Ryzen 7600x3d

Asrock Challenger 7900gre

32gb DDR5 Kingston Fury 5600

1 TB WD Black Ssd

Deepcool 520s zero dark aio

MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 850W ATX 3.0M

Im thankful for any advice in advance

Hi Marek,

It sounds like your new PC build is impressive, but you're experiencing a brief monitor disconnection issue. Ensure you're using high-quality cables, check the monitor's input settings, verify the power supply, adjust BIOS settings if needed, and test with another monitor if possible. If the problem persists, reaching out to Gigabyte or Asrock support might help.

I hope this helps!

Hi thanks for answering. I think ill order a new cable since the GPU support 2.1 DP. Ill get one of those since mine is pretty old i think. The monitor in question 7 years old only has a 1.2 DP port but the cable should still be compatable even if the port is so much older than the cable

Hello!

I trust that resolution will take care of your concern.

Hi

The new cable seems to have resolved the issue. I also found an older thread where a user claimed that amd cards dont like DP cables older than 1.4

Thanks

Check in the Windows settings for which monitor is number 1 and which is number 2.  Your main monitor should be set to be monitor number 1 and Windows might be switching them for some reason.

This could be the solution. I had a bug where, for some reason or another, I had to use HDMI after using display driver uninstalling tools like DDU or AMD Cleanup Utility. After using HDMI and then setting the DisplayPort as display 1 in Windows the issue was resolved.

Try looking at the driver version. It could be as simple as Windows replacing your display driver with the broken one that has driven a lot of us crazy for years.

Here is a guide how to make sure Windows stops installing the bad driver.

It is for Windows 10 but it does still work on Windows 11. Here is another guide.
