Hi
I recently added a Oculink expansion M.2 card to my mini PC and am trying to connect a RX6600 gpu to a egpu dock.
My system is a 8845HS with a 780m iGPU and wish to add the RX6600 (via eGPU oculink) however i'm running into issues.
From a hardware view, i know that the system works as if i use a RTX3060 the egpu setup works well and the RX6600 card works well in the other PC. So it's not a hardware issue per say (i.e. non faulty).
From a software view, when i boot the PC the best i can get to work is the following
- eGPU connected and boot screen will show as a output on HDMI of the RX6600 card.
- Windows loads mostly (to variant degrees of rebooting / crashes to loading to desktop) with the RX6600 shown as there in device manager but unable to load the drivers for it. The 780m GPU is also shown. there is output display via the HDMI port on the RX6600
- The computer tends to crash/hang a bit when the RX6600 card is used. When using the RTX3060 it's perfectly stable and runs very well.
End goal is to use the RX6600 in this setup ideally but at the moment it seems there is a software issue between the AMD iGPU and AMD eGPU.
I've tried
- Disabling the iGPU in the bios -> system still unstable and then had to reset the bios to default values to get back to being able to connect to the iGPU again.
- Disabling the iGPU in device manager -> system still unstable and cant load drivers for RX6600
- Rolling back driver of iGPU in device manager to windows generic -> system still unstable and cant load drivers for RX6600
Open to ideas here. I believe the issue stems from the iGPU and eGPU both being AMD and conflicting with each other. However after trying to disable to iGPU in both device manager and bios, i'm not sure how to resolve
