New PC crashing only while gaming

Hello everyone,

I been having an issue with my PC crashing in games, specifically in games, I’ve tested with Futuremark and Cinebench with no issues or crashes. Fresh install of win 11 all updated Bios and drivers nothing helps. I will get a black screen and then reboot, sometimes blue screen after message “security measures enabled” then blue screen. Bios is running optimal settings, GPU latest drivers, and mobo latest chipset drivers. Here are specs

AMD 7800X3d 3 months old

Mobo- MSI X670 Carbon  - 3 months old

Ram – G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96 1.40V Desktop Computer – 3 months old

GPU – Nvidia 3080TI - 2019

Bios version: 2024/09/30

Chipset drivers – latest from MSI

PSU – Corsiar 1000w Platinum - 2017

I’ve also tried older GPU drivers with no luck, tried removing ICUE no luck. Happens with steam and non-steam games but does not reboot if I run Cinebench or Futuremark which is strange because I use the GPU stress test and no crash. The only thing I can thing is PSU is coming up on 8 years old bought it back in 2017. Could it be PSU finally failing?

That's a tough one, but before you replace the PSU, I would back off some of the settings in the BIOS related to the RAM.  Try running without AMD EXPO enabled for instance.  If it still crashes, try switching around the memory sticks.  As for the chipset drivers, I would go to the AMD website and use their tool to detect and download the latest set.

New PSU, I can game for hours now. The PSU just degraded. Credit Corsiar PSU I had it for 7 years and it worked with 3 systems OC. It's just hard to tell when they go out because computer will still turn on and run fine but won't push out the power needed for gaming. New PSU has voltage gage on side of it. Now I can see in game I'm running about 500w of power. Again, thanks for help
