I am up for doing a new project but stuck on ideas. I have a few but after really thinking them through, they are lame!
I can go ATX (12" x 9.6") or mini-ITX (6.7" x 6.7") as I will rip apart "Liquid Voltage" in seconds. I have an extra TT Core P5 case, which right now has an old Crosshair VI motherboard and Ryzen 1800X on it. I am going to use the MB, CPU to setup a test bench and something I can still do my billing for work, and I need to wipe a few m.2's I have. I also have the Barrow Icicle Waterplate, (19" x 14.5") I thought I may be able to apply into some kind of build.
I will be water cooling it. For the most part, I have been staying away from buying PC cases for myself but have no problem doing so if it was the right case. I've been focusing more on something I can do that is unique. But I am drawing a blank. I really liked working with those steam/fuel generators, like in "Copper Revolution" but again drawing a blank.
I have components, and water-cooling parts to get the job done. Just looking for some kind of unique idea. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty but also know my limits but the right idea I would at least be willing to try.
I have already done wall, copper, wood, many different cases. Not really interested in desk pc. At one point was going to build something going around my room but I think I calculated 3 pumps for each loop to handle the length of the runs and it turned me off.
Have you seen those copper infinity cubes or the mirrored RGB ones??
Myself, I'm quite into those Mini-ITX builds these days due to portability. Easy to move to the living room if you want to go game there as opposed to PC desk setup. Want to bring it to a LAN party, you're good to go! Something custom on that scale I think would be really cool.
I have been considering buying a 3d printer specifically for ITX small builds but also larger ones. I just have to be willing to put the money and time into learning it. I want something that can print out up to at least 18" panels so think I am looking at around a grand just to consider the machine. They also make a few different 3d scanners, which are just awesome! But they are very pricey but makes the job so much easier. Scan and print. I also would have to get it past my wife which is the real hurdle here and would most likely never happen. Hard to be sneaky with a 3d printer sitting in your room. Now a video card, she would never know. 😆
Perhaps hook 2 or 3 of those printers to a dedicated computer. That's what I have done with my wife's embroidery machines. Problem is only the newest one will work on Windows 10 or 11.
I did it. Probably shouldn't have but it's done. Now just have to learn it. Got it built and 1st test piece printed. It's a FLSUN SR Super Racer 3D Printer. It took 37 minutes to print the nut and bolt.
Super cool. I guess it needs a 3D drawing of any device in a format that it is compatible, correct.
Yes sir, but you can find 1000's for free online. I got my wife a dipped rose this year for Valentines Day and went online and found a vase for it. Downloaded files put them onto sd card and printed from that. This thing is Awesome! I bought a whole bunch of filament yestaerday with printer and used a rainbow silk on the vase. I think it turned out amazing. This is the first project besides the nut and bolt test run. It took 2hrs and 46min to complete.
I might want to get me one of these things.
Wait, this is so cool! If I may ask, how much was the machine/materials to 3D print?
I have always been so intrigued by these...
With the printer and 4 rolls of 1kg filament, it was around $550 after tax. I was using PLA but ordered some PETG filament. It is stronger and I bought this thing for PC building and have been doing nothing but printing non-sense for fun. 😃 I am doing some design through TinkerCad and Cura. Below is my latest print. I found it on Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects and had to print it. LOL but now going to try and start concentrating on PC's.
Haha I love this so much! I watch many tiktoks where they print like fidget snakes if you've seen them.
I know printing is a time-consuming project, especially if you're printing a bigger piece. Would love to see all the silly things you print, and the pieces you print for PCs. This is awesome!!!
Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you 🙂
I have an idea! What if you were to build an "Intellivision" themed gaming rig?
I've seen Atari-themed PC cases, but not this one.
I know you have copper you can use to mimic the color scheme.
Thoughts?
