This guy failed on me and was causing my Xbox One X not to boot.
So I took it apart.
When I did, I was able to use the adapter from it to plug into the drive and probably any other drive I get later. After plugging in the drive it didn't have any volumes or partitions on it. I wrote it off as a random failure after reformatting and testing the drive for a few hours yesterday. It now lives in my newly built server box.
If it does fail again I will replace it, but I mean even a few months of use for a drive that I bought over 3 years ago seems like a win.
I am actually super happy that now I have this adapter to plug other SATA drives into. I have needed one from time to time and never pulled the trigger on buying.
