Hi. Trying to buy parts for a Plex/NAS server. I got a Ryzen 5 5600 G Zen 3, but can't seen to find a motherboard for it that doesn't require flashing bios before using the chip. Is there a board out there that is compatible with this chip out of the box?
Why are you so worried about flashing the BIOS?
It'll slot into any AM4 board. As long as you have video out on your I/O, you'll be able to plug a monitor in and see what you're doing.
If this is a Server you are planning on setting up you also might want to open a thread at AMD Forum's SERVER GURU: https://community.amd.com/t5/server-gurus/ct-p/amd-server-gurus
Another website that offers a list of compatible Motherboards for the Ryzen APU is PCPARTPICKER: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/?compatible_with=sYmmP6
Found this NAS Forum where the User is also building a NAS Server with a 5600G with a Asus Motherboard: https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/first-time-building-a-nas.104172/
This one User's opinion about using a 5600g for a NAS Server from above link forum:
Hi, After researching I've found the top 6 best motherboards for Ryzen 5 5600g. here you can check. I hope it will help you.
Honestly, most motherboards are ready out of the box and worst case there are many boards that allow a bios flashback without it
Any B550 should be ready out of the box.
AND it will have the advantage of PCIe gen 4 support for those wicked fast new M2 drives.
Cheers,
low
So @EZFrag , what motherboard did you select?
Most B550 will be compatible
