Cheap prices for M.2 storage devices

Have you been noticing the drop in prices of the M.2 NVME solid state storage devices over the last six months?  Apparently there is a glut of semiconductor chips (I'm guessing memory chips) on the market and we also have some manufacturers dealing with reliability issues (I won't name them) that have their products dropping even more.

Who has been buying M.2 drives this year?  I picked up two of the 2 TB Western Digital Black SN850X PCIe 4.0 drives in early June for just $140 USD each.  They are still the same price today.

Fast and reliable storage.Fast and reliable storage.

The Samsung 990 PRO Series - 1TB SSD w/o heatsink is on sale, a Limited time deal, for $69.99 on Amazon. Sadly, the 2 TB version isn't as deeply discounted, selling for $161.96.

Keep in mind that some companies are having issues (read 'reliability') with some of their SSDs.  I won't buy the cheapest brand unless it's strictly for games and such.  You know, things you can install again.  I don't want my precious pictures (I take a lot - my phone has over 52 K photos on it right now).  They are also on my computer too.
