I am wondering if anyone got it to work to use 5700XT for opencl on a Linux host? 

I installed ROCm 3.0.6 on a Ubuntu 16.04 host, but both clinfo and rocminfo hanged. I posted this question on ROCM's github site, but no reply so far

Thank you for posting this query. 

It looks like Navi (gfx101x) is not supported yet on the ROCm. To find the list of supported hardware, please check this release note AMD_ROCm_Release_Notes_v3.0.pdf or this page ROCm. Navi is not listed there.
