I spend a *lot* of time at my desk so I'm constantly trying to keep my space organized and surrounded by things I like. That consists of a plant that has traveled with me all the way from MA to TX, some pictures, and random baubles. I know a lot of people don't like a "cluttered" feel but you know what they say - different folks, etc. 😎
So without further ado - photos of my desk!
This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago - desk has since been rearranged!
Okay, I did NOT realize the window is super dirty in this photo, oops. Adding to my list of chores for the weekend.😅
Here's a better view of my main monitor area. Usually not too much there other than a notebook, my phone, and a drink (and none of those are pictured lol). Older photo - keyboard and mouse are different. xD
My most recent setup minus a little family of polymer dragons off to the right (you can just barely see one of them though!).
I like a simple and empty desk with lots of free space around me, that means less to clean.
Early days with of working from home.
Current days gaming only.
and lately, if I have to work from home, I even got rid of the speakers.
Now... When I as younger. The mess was bigger
I have a desk picture from 1990, let me search for that and I'll post it here.
I have worked from home since April 2020 so spend A LOT of my time at my desk. I try to keep the clutter to a minimum. Mostly its the funkos that are the clutter tbh
When I'm not working I switch to the PC's main profile and all the shiny lights are on, during my workday everything is dark. Helps with switching off from work seeing as I'm working from home now.
Just some Alien/OW funkos, a lot of beard funkos 😄 such as ZZ Top
My work mug and work laptop, honestly rarely use the macbook "cause eww apple", its really only used if the PC had an issue or when I'm traveling.
My PC sits on the left side raised from the floor, handy little 'box' part of the desk to keep it raised and not sat on carpet etc
And her royal highness sleeps behind me 🙄
Nice setup @Nagrenol
Have you thought about getting an Ultrawide display (say a 34") to replace the two monitors? I got one about a year ago and has improved my workspace dramatically (reduced the number of cables, power cords, etc. Plus the docking station makes switching from my personal laptop to the work laptop very easy).
I'll be sure to post a few pictures to show you.
I do like the dual monitor set up at the same time. But I have been looking at some ultra wide minitors. I have a decent budget from work to get something bits n pieces so I can splash out a bit and still sell the two monitors left.
@johnnyenglish Great set up - love the retro photo! That CRT has got me nostalgic now. xD
@Nagrenol That is one nice setup! The Funkos are top tier; my personal faves are Gimli and the Aliens. 😁
Also, I'm seeing a trend here with our community and cats...! 😋
The photo I've been promising you.
I Believe its from 1995? 96? (trying to confirm it with my mom) a Pentium 166mhz that I later OC'ed to be recognized as a Pentium 200Mhz.
I was young and I was reading the board manual, a pretty image like this appeared and I wondered what would happen if I left the switches ON OFF ON ON. Well... I was so happy with the result, I felt like I got a new toy!
Recently upgraded my desk from a dinky generic one for an Omnidesk Pro 2020, got a 3rd party clamp-on monitor stand for my monitor (49" 32:9 3840x1080 144Hz). I have four of my headphones on rotation, on the right hanging off my desk is a HiFiMan HE560, a HD6xx on a headphone stand on my desk. On the left is my Grado GS1000i (foreground) and ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000, my headphone DAC combo is an iFi Micro iDSD Black Label. Keyboard is a Ducky Shine 2 78 Edition with a Logitech G703.
I'd since upgraded my mousepad to an even bigger, and thicker one, and swapped the keycaps to a set of PBT Pudding shine through keycaps, gotta love the extra bling bling. Oh yeah, the 'Esc' key is a 'The Witcher' metal keycap which I'd had to order separately....
Super nice! I want to get a large pad for my desk. Any suggestions?
By the way, I'm curious, why 4 headphones?
Spent my quarantine building this gaming room, There is also a lazy boy that's not pictured for those days I just want to relax and game on 4k tv. Also currently working on a Sleeper build that I still need a Processor for.
Depends on the size of your desk, and thickness of the mousepad, I'd gotten mine from AliExpresss, and Shoppee.
I'm something of a hoarder, I was a keyboard hoarder at one time a ways back. I'm also dabbling in horology, and have myself a small collection of watches (no crazy high-end stuff though). As for headphones, I had fallen down the steep audiophile slope, and have gathered a number of headphones that I'd rotate (much like my keyboards) on my DAC combo. A pic paints a thousand words....as I'd stated before, I'm a hoarder, and although I've sold off a few of my lower end cans, I'm presently down to 12 pairs of cans.
Wow! That's a lot of...heads! I still have to post a picture of my desk. I'll do it later today to show you (everyone), what I hoard 😎
Here's what's on my desk...can you name the three robots?
Note, no loose cables, wires, cords...no spaghetti! 😎
Yep, like my other hobbies, once I get into it, I'd fall down the rabbit hole.....bad!😜
About those robots, I may have seen 'em, but I'm crap at remembering what they look like in anime series/movies, that's the problem with getting older, my memory modules aren't as good a before (NOT that they were good in the first place). I'm more of a fan of anime with OP'ed characters like those Isekai ones, present fav is OPM.
With regard to cable mess/ spaghetti cables, I was using a dinky table and the spaghetti cable was a real eyesore....
With the purchase of the Omnidesk (love that it's hydraulically driven so I can raise or lower the desk to suit me, or my niece, chair's a black Secret Lab Omega) and its cable organizing attachment, I went from the above to my previously posted (and present) setup. There's a marked difference.....cable mess-wise.
The robots are Gundam, Zaku II, and Jeeg Robot! I grew up watching Jeeg robot, the 80s.
@MikeySCT do you like racing games? If so, what are you playing?
You've got me intrigued with the Omnidesk! I just glanced at their website and they seem pretty legit. I've been thinking about a standing desk and it may finally be time to pull the trigger and get one - love the ability to raise and lower it easily. My back would probably thank me 😂
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!
I hope you never did what my youngest did when he was about 3 (1990). He fed my 5.25 FDD some paper clips. When I turned the computer on that evening smoke curled up out of the drive, too late, damage already done.
I like to keep my desk clean, so there are almost no unnecessary items. I don't understand why some people have so much junk on their desks. Is it really convenient? Items on the desk get dusty, and you will need to clean them all the time. Although, for some people, dust is not a problem. A few months ago I bought myself a new desk with drawers. All unnecessary items go in these drawers. My desk is just a laptop, a pen, and a few file folders, and that's it. Thanks to this, my attention is focused only on important things during work.
I use my desk for everything, knife sharpening, computing, reloading pistol and rifle cartridges, servicing trail cameras, everything. Yes it may be a cluttered mess to you, but I know where everything is, at least most of the time.
You think it might have helped if I had turned on the light! Ha
I need to clean up my desk.
What is that white AMD branded item on the left monitor stand?
