Our community seems to be growing, which is awesome! So I'm curious what does everyone here do when they aren't gaming? It could be your favorite hobby, your go-to non-videogame or anything in between!

Me, I'm a big fan of cooking - so I love to try and make elaborate meals from time to time. Even if it is to the dismay of my wife, who thinks I overcomplicate things 🤣, and create a big mess lol.

Other than that the rest of my free time is occupied by my kids and having fun with them. PSA: For anyone who doesn't have kids, or is about to. Prepare to spend a lot of time on the floor. 

So, what about you? What do you enjoy?

Lately my nephew and I who both have 10 year old daughters have started teaching them about firearm safety and proper firearm control.

On sidearms shotguns rifles and bows. 

This was the age that we were granted that responsibility and now we are passing that knowledge on.

Our daughters really enjoy it though they do get some minor bruising from the shotgun and rifle recoil they don't complain about it. 

The main thing we drill into them is every firearm is to be treated like it is always loaded and that it could go off without warning even if you know its unloaded.

Also how to clean and maintain the firearms after use. We get some complaints from that due to some of the solvents and lubricant odors used in maintaining firearms but they still enjoy it.

Those girls are way better shots at that age than we were. Happy daddies passing on knowledge.

My dad taught me how to use firearms when I was 12-ish. I respect them. We used to go out to my aunt's house (in the hills) and spend a few hours shooting at cans, bottles, etc. I clearly remember the first time I shot his rifle, I was a little scared, nervous, with a splash of excitement...then boom! Just like that, I got over it.

I DAD.

Gaming is just a way to decompress from DAD'ing.

To elucidate on what it means to DAD,  I Protect, Provide, Proselytize, Procrastinate, Pillory, and Prognosticate. 

My children are all adulting full-time nowadays and I still DAD.

I love drawing on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ from time to time. Trying to get better. I also love going out and attending meetups - board games, language exchange, casual socials in pubs, etc. I wanna get back into bouldering and parkour, but most of my friends are now married and have kids, so they have no time.

With 850 acres, farm maintenance is a continuous job.  Even though I am retired, I still have a daily job.  We are in the process of selling equipment and repairing, maintenance, etc. keeps us busy.

Reading, fishing and gigs

The question for me would be "what would I be doing when you're not programming?" Haven't played a game in a little while now. Firing up an IDE and mashing the keyboard to give life to software has become the norm for me. Especially with the dawn of AI there's so many possibilities for what software can do.

I’m into a mix of things reading, catching up on TV shows, and occasionally diving into some DIY projects. When I’m not deep into that, I like to stay active, so I go for runs or hit the gym. And yeah, spending time with family is a huge part of it too.

My usual goto's when not gaming are: 3D modeling for 3D prints, digital art (mainly wallpapers, stickers/emotes, and various icons for other software [i.e. streamdeck icons]), and the occasional movie and/or tv episode.

Sometimes I do research on some games, like guides and how-to's. Or just look up mods and see if anything catches my interest.

I'm usually at my computer all day doing something lol

Edit: Also I am programming in Python a bit, as a hobby but mostly just the basic's right now. Also A bit of C++ for Arduino projects.

I'm an old timer (75 yrs) and began programing on punch cards in the late 1970's.  Proficient in at least 5 languages and as you become more experienced you will see that most of the higher level languages are near identical.  All are built from the same platforms of operators, loops, relationships, and logic.  That is until you get into the ASSEMBLY language.  It is more machine specific but still uses the same commands.  Then there is BINARY language.  I knew enough of it to get by, although it is probably the easiest to use and work with.  I'm very proficient in SAS, PASCAL, C, and of course BASIC.

I remember the punch card decks.  Submit your deck and come back later in the day to get the results.  Then there were the TSO systems with the dumb terminals at work.  We've come a long way in the past 40 years of computer technology.
