Use this to download the latest drivers specifically mde for your system: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-p6300-desktop-pc-series/4079858/model/4...

Delete your current drivers.

Install the downloaded drivers.

If it doesn´t work, the GPU is probably dying.

They are not cooperating.

Here is the last Windows 7 driver for your obsolete GPU card HD 4200: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-hd/ati-radeon-hd-4000-series/ati-radeon-hd-4200

Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) with the internet disconnected and deleting C:\AMD Driver installation folder.

Once you install the last AMD driver upload a image of GPU-Z to make sure it is installed correctly to be find out the Make & Model of your GPU card.

EDIT: Could also be a Monitor or Monitor cable issue. Have you tried to adjust the color in Windows Control panel?

What is the Make & Model of your Monitor ?

The monitor is a acer 223w "analog" the monitor works perfectly on my older PC's xp

I know I need a new pc....but have been sick and money is tight.

This is what the trouble shooter found.

I guess your GPU card is incompatible with Windows 7 Aero Glass feature. You can disable that in Control Panel.
