I’ve got a 5500 xt 8gb that shuts off around 65c core temp and between 75c-85c hotspot another thing is the fan curve when under load the fans will spin up to 2500 rpm but when the hotspot hits 70c the fans start lowering and settle at 2000 rpm. I’ve replaced the thermal paste and pads I also added heatsinks and pads to the controller chips with no difference nothing looks bad on the board. So if I set a manual fan curve the fans will operate correctly and the gpu will keep running with 58c core and 72c hotspot but 85c shouldn’t be a problem.

Any ideas has anyone come across this before.

I’m thinking maybe a partial defective controller or sensor.
