running rx 6600 on a pci-e gen 2 slot

hi

anyone knows if pci-e gen 2 is enough for an rx 6600?

right now i have an rx 6600 installed on a pcie gen 2 x16 slot and since the card interface is x8 its running at x8.

pci-e gen 2 has 16GB/s for an x16 lane , so how does this work when you put an x8 card on x16 lane? does the 16GB/s turn in half?

in overall ,how can i measure to see if a slot is enough for a graphic card?

From my understanding PCIe 2.0 x 16 is the same as PCIe 3.0 x 8 is the same as PCIe 4.0 x 4.

So if your PCIe 2.0 x 8 is the same as PCIe 3.0 x 4 speeds.

Here is a beginner's guide to PCIe lanes: https://pcguide101.com/motherboard/what-are-pcie-lanes/

i already know that.

pcie 2 running at x8 would give me 8GB/s.

what i want to know : is this enough for rx 6600? and how i can measure if a pcie is enough for a graphic card or not.

From what I read the RX6600 is a PCIe x 8 GPU card.

Found this Linus Tip website where another User is asking the same question you are about running a RX6600 GPU card on PCIe 2.0 slot: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1455720-pci-e-40-gpu-in-pci-e-20-slot/

The above link should give a general idea how well the RX6600 GPU card will run on your PCIe 2.0 Slot.
