Replacing my AMD Radeon HD 5870

Hello

So I have Asus ROG G73JH model of laptop.  I would like to know if there is a way to update the Radeon HD 5870 GPU in it with a more powerful one?  I am comfortable do the replacement myself just don't know if its possible with my model of laptop

While the GPU in this model laptop is not PnP replaceable, there are users who report that the GPU can be upgraded through some pretty invasive and warranty voiding physical and BIOS modifications. See the article linked below.

This user indicates some improvements with gaming but it's not something I'd feel comfortable doing myself. However, if you've got the right equipment and the know-how to troubleshoot possible setbacks, then by all means.
