Hi All,

I've had an 8gb RX 580 that I picked off ebay (a first gen XFX) that's been working well until I tried playing Far Cry 3. About every 30 minutes - 1 hour I get a crash to desktop. Sometimes in MSVCR100.dll and lately in atidxx32.dll. Like so:

Faulting application name: farcry3_d3d11.exe, version: 0.1.0.1, time stamp: 0x5ae9a466

Switching back to my old GTX 760 makes the crashes go away, but I miss my 580.

I ran through the usual gamut of fixes (disabled overlays, compatibility mode, driver updates, Windows Updates, etc) to no avail. GPU is at stock voltage and clocked at 1366 (manufacture's Stock).

It's a used Card (and likely an old mining card) but as far as I can tell Bios is stock. XFX cards have a bios "switch" on them that lets you switch from a "gaming" bios to a mining one, and I'm on the Gaming Bios.

Finally I went all out and did a clean install of Win 10 with the latest AMD drivers, but no luck.

Near as I can tell the Card's OK. I can play Far Cry Blood Dragon all day long and it's the same engine. I ran the Final Fantasy 15 benchmark for 3 1/2 hours without any issues and that thing'll eat up all 8 gb of my system ram and 7 1/2 gigs of the video ram. I've played through the first Crysis and Psychonauts entirely and a good chunk of Killer Instinct on this 580 too.

I tried MemtestCL. From what I can tell it only tests the first 4gb of ram, it throws allocation errors if I try more, but what I've read suggests that's normal. Memtest86 doesn't find any errors.

Any hope here? Anyone else have trouble with Far Cry 3? I finished the game on my 760, but I've got to admit it bugs me that my AMD card still has some stability issues. I was hoping those had all been licked by that last big push to improve driver quality...
