hello was wondering, would a 7900xt be a good combination with a Ryzen 7 5800x with a 1000 watt psu

My philosophy is, as long as CPU is able to manage gaming loads by keeping framerate at acceptable levels (this metric would depend entirely on user), or vice versa, then it should be fine.

I play many games on my main rig (see sig), and as long as my CPU can keep framerate at between 70fps to >100fps, I'm happy enough. I do play GPU intensive games like DSR, The Calisto Protocol , Metro Exodus, etc, where more emphasis/stress is placed on the GPU at 3840x1080, max settings.

IF OP hasn't gotten the 5800X, then might I suggest the 5800X3D instead?

I do own the 5800x , 32gb ram 3600 mhz good mobo with 4.0 pci slot, Corsair gold psu 1,000 watt , thought I mention the rest I have in the pc

Then I see no issue, the 5800X is still good for gaming, it's only when you can't quite hit your target framerate (or fall well short of) in games, like eSport titles, that perhaps an upgrade might be in order. That's entirely up to you what your preferred games, perceived smoothness and framerate lie.

I have a 2nd rig - AMD R9 3900X + 32GB RAM + RX 6900 XT - and I'm quite certain the 3900X can't quite keep up with the RX 6900 XT at lower res. But, since I have an Acer XR341CK 3440x1440 75Hz monitor hooked up to it, more stress is placed on the RX 6900 XT, and since I like going max ingame setting whenever possible, the CPU and GPU seem to be getting along nicely.

Edit - I find that chasing this perceived 'balanced' system notion is....entirely up to the user, though I don't believe in this concept. Most systems are not 'balanced', sometimes the CPU is overpowered vis-a-vis the GPU, and vice versa. Though as long as, together, they are capable of outputting good enough framerate in games that you play and at the res and settings you want, then it's pointless to chase this notion of a 'balanced' system.
