7800 XT after 2080 ti - worth it?

Hello everybody,

I apologize for this repeated question but I still can't find correct answer. So, I am going to upgrade VC in kids' PC from 2080 ti, which is already 5yo, to something modern with 16GB which will last for at least 3-4 years. Their PC has 2K 144Hz monitor and they currently don't have issues with the modern games in 2K resolution, even with RT enabled (+DLSS, ofc). $500 bucks is a pretty decent price for the 30-40% gain in performance in classis rendering AND +5GB of VRAM. But what about RT? For example, Cyberpunk - it does almost 60FPS with PT and DLSS "performance" - would 7800 XT capable to show at least the same? Or I should go with 4070 Ti Super (+$300)?

Thank you.

The 7900GRE is only 10% more expensive than the 7800XT ($50) but offers 15-20% more performance. Compared to the next rung up, the 7900XT which is 40% more cost.

The 4070Ti Super is in an entirely different price and performance class, close to the 7900XT. The regular 4070 would be the direct competitor to the 7800XT/7900GRE.

Cyberpunk has one of the heaviest ray tracing workloads. If that is the yard stick to gauge by then nVidia cards will always look better. Here's Gamers Nexus review of the 7900GRE comparing Cyberpunk ray tracing.
