So I bought my stepson a 5700G system. I overclocked it a little and set him up on an old(5 yo) 4k TV with Freesync @ 60hz that I'd used before. I bought the Asus B550M-K mainboard and every motherboard I'd seen up to this point has had displayport. Not that this one. We've reached premium cheapo status on this POS. Every corner that can be cut was cut. So, no displayport and the TV will not recognize displayport availability over HDMI. I purchased a new cable just to try it out. I tried to purchase a HDMI to displayport cable and that didn't work AT ALL. I was considering some converter cables but I have a feeling I got screwed by not ensuring this motherboard had the basics. Is there any workaround to turn on Freesync over HDMI or am I just SOL?
