worse performance with SAM enabled

It has been awful on my setup, b450, 3600, 5600 xt. I lose frames and stability in everything I've tested. In passmark having it enabled absolutely trashed my performance. My system rating went from 16k+ to sub 7k. Several games become unplayable, Tales of Arise had massive frame swings from 14-60 with it on vs a perfectly stable 60 with it off. I'm using vsync in that game. Rome 2 ran at like 20 fps on vs 90 without. Everything set to max with no vsync and I noticed a cpu bottle neck

Hi @marw5906

Did you install a new app or game that may have caused the issue? Or did you install/upgrade any of the hardware lately?

In other words, did anything change in your setup recently that could have caused the issue?

Click here to ensure you meet the min requirements (especially your BIOS).

Have you installed the latest drivers?

By the way, have you looked in the Support Forums

Okay, what happens if you disable SAM. Have you tried this yet?
