What do you guys think the future will be like with AI everywhere? With all the jobs being taken over by AI, what do you think will still be safe careers to chose.
I believe we will see artificial intelligence continue to evolve and take over mundane tasks or hazardous ones (like piloting vehicles in war zones or underwater / space). I originally was going to be an auto mechanic when I graduated from high school, but soon I changed to electrical engineering and went to university. That worked very well for me and I highly recommend you get a technical degree of some sort. By taking math and science courses you will have many options available to you as new career paths open up in the future, so I would start with that if you are getting ready for college / university.
I planning in getting a degree in computer science or something related to that.
I think we went to far with AI and it will definitely make us early retirees in our fields... Hollywood is starting to feel the burn.
Maybe.
The AI we have now won't change much -- barrier of entry for a lot of things will improve and some more mundane tasks can be semi-automated. But its not changing much of the automation we already have.
What we have now is just improved ML to the point where we can simulate AI. We still have a ways to go for true AI and I think once we reach that point, its when things will really change.
That's to say, now is a good time for us to think about what to regulate and how and minimizing impact to society, etc. That's a big question mark cause different people have different opinions on it.
Specifically the idea that people are gonna lose their jobs and etc -- that's been happening before OpenAI and recent ML improvements happened. Everyone from software to automotive to retail to military have been losing jobs to automation for the last 20 years at the least. And more just to the fact that companies have been "cutting costs".
Very interesting response. Never thought about that.
