Hello all,
I've been running the following build since about March of 2020 and I'm just looking to upgrade specifically for playing and recording Star Citizen in 2k; I'm not in any rush at the moment to go all in on anything since my build is already running 1080p as is just fine, but I'd like to keep stable frames and move up resolution a bit without going to a completely new build;
Currently:

But basically the main upgrades I'm looking at are moving up from the 3900x to the 5800x3D, moving up from the 5700XT to a 6800XT or possibly even 7800XT, and changing RAM.
The CPU upgrade doesn't seem that expensive, and I'm willing to wait for another decent sale or promotion, but I'm curious if I'd actually see any real results.
The RAM has never been able to run on the DOCP profile, I've had to manually clock every time, and I imagine there's some quality B die or alternative that would pair better with the 5800x3D anyway, so I'm open to suggestions here, but this isn't entirely necessary, just something for QOL while I bide my time. (Plus, the RGB was way more trouble than it was worth, I'd be all for plain old high performance sticks!)
Finally, the GPU is the main difficulty as even if I were to go with a reference 6800XT, it's looking like it'll almost always net out to a minimum of $800 or so to integrate it into my loop, and at that rate, I'm wondering if I'd see any real benefit to just going with a 7800XT instead since it's looking like it'd be around the same price.
Either way, I'm trying to keep the total cost at $1500 or less and don't really have a timeline set. I imagine I may need to consider changing PSUs eventually too, but I'm not compelled to do so until I move towards a whole new build around the 8000 series and X770E chipsets down the line.
Again, the main focus of the build is for playing and recording Star Citizen, every small bit of performance or stability I can eke out is always appreciated.
Not sure if we have cat tax here, but here's my helper, Mango!
