I bought an ROG Zephyrus G15 laptop and an Oculus Rift S last year to have something simple I can use to try VR on. It's been working great for that the last year and a half, but in September, I booted up the VR software and put on my headset, but only got blank/black screens in the eye holes.
The power lights come on, the software check says all the sensors are working and everything gets a green checkmark. I even purchased a new VR headset, but am getting the same issue with it. I've updated all my drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled oculus, even reset my computer, but am getting the same thing. No video coming through the eyes with everything checking out green like it's supposed to be working.
GeekSquad looked at the laptop and said all the ports are in perfect quality.
I plugged the headset into my friend's computer and it actually worked, so now I know it's not a headset malfunction.
Here are some more specs:
Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS Build 19042.1288) Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS with Radeon Graphics
2.90 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.4 GB usable)System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with Max Q Design
I've ruled out everything I can to fix this (, and the only option I have left is to just buy a new PC (that isn't a laptop). Does anyone have any ideas for anything else I can try first though? Computers are expensive...
Thanks in advance!
