I have been building computers implementing RAID, and used raidxpert to maintain and monitor the RAID.  What I really don't understand is, when it comes to configuring email for notification, there is no way to use an email server which requires secure connection.  raidxpert has been this way for at least 10 years.  Is it because there aren't enough number of complaints?

RAID is largely been superseded by file systems that can handle multiple disks fine without hardware 

this is largely due to improvement in CPU instruction sets etc
