Problem with RAID Setup

Old system: Intel I7-3930K Windows 11 Pro Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3

I had 4 spinning drives in my system.
2 of them are set up in the BIOS as RAID1
The other two are hot swap-swappable in drive caddies.

I was able to hot-swap the two drives in the caddies without any problems.

New system: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Windows 11 Pro ASUS Strix X570-E motherboard

I have 4 spinning drives in my system.
2 of them are set up in the AMD BIOS as RAID1 using RaidExpert2
The other two are hot-swap in drive caddies.

I am no longer able to hot-swap the two drives in the caddies. Apparently
AMD RAID makes all drives "look like" RAID (in the BIOS "SATA Configuration" you change from AHCI to RAID).
even though you have only assigned two of them to the array. After doing this you no longer see your SATA drives independently.

If I remove one of the hot-swap drives Windows no longer sees it when it is reinserted.
Am I missing something or is this the way it is supposed to work? If so not a great feature
