Problem : no display after updating bios

Hi everyone,

First of all here’s my current setup :

MOBO : MSI B650M A WIFI

CPU : ryzen 5 7600

GPU : rx7800xt speedster

Ram : 32gb ddr5

lmk if any other spec is needed

So basically, this evening, i did an update on the latest bios (7D77v1M) because i had a problem of parasite noises when plugging speakers at the back of my pc. I thought everything was going as planned but i might have panicked because once the download was completed ( approximatively 5 seconds after having a black screen) i thought that something was wrong because i was getting no display. Watched a bunch of tutorials : Did the Cmos reset unplugging the battery…, checked hdmi on monitor and graphics card, tried to flash bios… nothing brought display back. So i tried something else : i plugged my hdmi in the motherboard, no display. I pressed the reset button on the front of my pc case : i got display with my full normal screen. Problems : i was on integrated graphics and i could only get display if i pressed reset everytime i would boot my pc. Just tried to m flash bios with the previous version but it doesn’t seem like it works. Also, graphics card fans are working so i guess it’s not dead ( i hope so ). Let me know if you need any more precisions, i am waiting for your answers if anyone can help me because i’m in a terrible mental state as i’m this close to switch back to consoles. Thanks guys!

MSI has a video on how to use their M-Flash BIOS utility.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKMub20CUNI

Download the BIOS version and extract the file to a USB drive. Then reboot and use M-Flash to update.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B650M-A-WIFI/support

Make sure to wait until the process completes 100% and instructs you to reboot!

BIOS settings are lost on version update, make sure to re-enter BIOS after the restart and load optimized defaults, or reselect your settings based on hardware requirements.

It sounds like a frustrating situation, but don’t worry! Since the GPU fans are working, it’s probably not dead. Try resetting the BIOS again and ensure the primary display is set to PCIe in the BIOS settings, not integrated graphics. You can also try reseating your GPU to make sure it's properly connected. If that doesn’t work, consider rolling back the BIOS to the previous version. Hopefully, this helps get your display working again!
